Introducing the PlayStation Plus open multiplayer event, kicking off on PS4 this week

Trial your favourite games’ multiplayer modes without the need for PS Plus from 15th November

PlayStation Plus not only gives you access to a range of games every month and exclusive discounts on top titles, but it also lets you battle it out – or work cooperatively – with friends on a wealth of online multiplayer-orientated experiences.

If you’ve yet to sample the delights of online play, then make sure to book out some time in your calendar. Starting this Wednesday, 15th November at 10am GMT / 11am CET and running to Monday 20th November at 10am GMT / 11am CET, you’ll be able to take yourself – and your favourite games – online and test out your skills, or just explore vibrant worlds, with other PS4 players worldwide*.

Yes that’s right; we’re opening PS Plus multiplayer to everyone. All you need to do is get comfy, pick out your favourite games from your collection, pop them in your PS4 and you’ll find all the online modes unlocked and ready to play!

So you don’t really have anything to lose by trying it out. And you never know, you might find that PlayStation Plus takes you to places you never thought possible where you can meet like-minded gamers all looking for people to play with.

You don’t need to sign up for anything – just get online and play. If you really enjoy the experience, don’t forget that with a full PS Plus membership you also get access to two PS4 games every month, as well as exclusive discounts on PlayStation Store!

Note: only online multiplayer functionality via PS Plus will be available.

*Event available in SIEE regions only.

I didn’t read the fine print before subscribing, but how about crediting paying PS+ gamers for open events like this?

A start would be bonus days to our subscriptions equivalent to the amount of open days. And maybe free to play games specifically on these open days.

Because what really is the benefit of this to current PS+ subscribers?

It looks like the fine print suggests this is for a limited time, 15 Nov to 20 Nov. It doesn’t read like they’re giving away PS+ online gaming permanently..? IDK, it’s before coffee here, so my scan might be wrong.

They don’t get the discounts or the copious amounts of exclusive free Themes and Avatars nor do they get access to the Plus IGC. I really don’t see an issue. I get my plus subscriotion back every year in duscounts and then some. No real need to be upset over online access, which let’s be honest should have never been charged for in the first place.

Its not about being upset, you’re reaching & maybe missed my point.

I do appreciate the discounts . If free themes and avatars are your cup of tea, and a worthwhile advantage of PS+ to you that’s great. But IGC, I wouldn’t brag about it or think anyone is missing out on it.

I’ve stopped my last 15-month membership in September (right before the “upgraded” PS+ prices) and guess what: I haven’t missed the online features one bit.

As a matter of fact, I don’t even know what to do with this “free” weekend access. I’ve had a bad case of Destiny diarrhea, nobody plays U4 co-op anymore and Dark Souls 3 can only entertain you so far. Nope, really, I’m done with paying online access to Sony. Good thing I’m now playing on Steam and I still have my PS3.

DS3’s PvP was the worst in the series, with the spam heavy combat and questionable weapon balance. With the first two I was still playing them months and months later, this one, without PvP or much “build variety”, I kind of had nothing left to do.

PS: and I have no clue why I still have the PS+ logo on top of my avatar.

Why would you buy a certain driving game with almost no singleplayer content if you didn’t already have PS+?

Friday 2200hrs (Tried to log into GTSport : Social and online gaming DOWN)- It seems in Sony’s great rush to entice new PSN paying subscribers they have completely disregarded their ALREADY paying subscribers. Take care of the freeloaders, never mind paying customers…
