5 big new PlayStation Store releases you need to check out this week

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-Ality, Extinction, Owl Boy, Call of Duty: WWII DLC and more

This week’s PlayStation Store releases range from a fully Rick-licious experience in the name of science and hilarity with Rick & Morty: Virtual Rick-Ality for PS VR, to arcade thrills on the battlefield with Call of Duty: WWII DLC (plus an old-school take on the genre with Operation Warcade).

Elsewhere, soar through the skies in retro fantasy adventure Owl Boy. And if none of the above satisfy your gameplay needs, how about some superheroic parkour as you battle giants in Extinction?

1. Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-Ality

Explore the world and interact with some iconic gadgets of Rick and Morty, the critically-acclaimed, darkly humorous TV series with this PS VR tie-in.

2. Extinction

Play a superheroic adventurer with time management issues! As a city’s last line of defense against hordes of rampaging giants, you’ve got flashy parkour moves and a wealth of abilities to protect population centres. But you can’t be in all places at once…

3. Owl Boy

A whimsical fantasy adventure awaits in Owl Boy, a 2D sprite-based platformer that has you taking to the skies to defend your home from Sky Pirates.

Owl Boy

  • Why you should play it: You can use Otus’ clawed feet to grab a range of friends and carry them – and their unique special abilities – into your fight against your attackers.

4. Operation Warcade

Relive the glory days of ’80s arcades in a whole new way in PS VR. Head into a virtual arcade hall and get to grips with the light gun game Operation Warcade!

VA-11 HALL-A for Vita when!? It was submitted to you almost 2 months ago and still nothing! Seriously it’s been out in North America since last November.

Another load of rubbish this week yet again i see

Gal Gunvolt Burst looks pretty cool. I wouldn’t skip it if you’re into Mega man style games

Looking forward to operation warcade vr

Dam, there’s a lot of good stuff coming out this week like Owlboy, Gal Gun and Project Nimbus

Carnivius_Prime 09 April, 2018 @ 21:40

OWLBOY! Been waiting for this one for a while. Tried it on PC and it was good but really wanted it on my PS4.

No Tempest 4000 this week then? Any news on when it’s coming, I was looking forward to that.

Also is Dark Souls Remastered coming up for preorder soon, I’d like to put my money down on that before blowing my stack on the next sale please.

A lot of games not available in New Zealand for some reason… NASCAR Heat 2 would have been nice to pick up in a deep sale, but I guess it won’t be coming here at all now… Sad!

Played Owlboy on Steam and it’s absolutely fantastic! Totally recommend it

After the disappointment that was Ark Park, I’m glad to see some decent psvr games this week. Still waiting on coolpaintr though. Any word on when we can expect a release date?

will probably pick up rick n morty at some point. But the attack on titans rip off – no thanks. And the rest are mostly indie games which is what this generation of consoles will be known for…

Carnivius_Prime 10 April, 2018 @ 16:44

Yes, indie games providing a wider range of gameplay experiences than the usual AAA stuff. I’ll take the gorgeous hand crafted 2D pixel art of Owlboy over any 3D first person shooter thank you. I like having a console that can provide all sorts of games.

Yeah I gotta say, it’s not like AAA games have not been releasing, it’s just that their horrible, not even taking into account predatory micro-transactions and season passes that don’t even cover all dlc anymore.

Super Daryl Deluxe. Wonderful, just wonderful.

It takes a bit to get going, but that game really shines, story, artwork, gameplay, wonderful fun.

When’s Tempest 4k being released? C’mon EU PSN staff!

blacksheepwall_ 10 April, 2018 @ 20:45

2018 is proving to be a cheap year for gaming. Not a single game i’ve had the urge to pay full price for.

jamestillett 11 April, 2018 @ 18:02

Or to play for that matter before Sony decide to remove the Neo Geo titles & Arcade Archives i was spending quite a bit but there been nothing since January i think we are in a med Gen lull of games just one more month to before the long Awaited Street-fighter Anniversary Collection

Why Owlboy is not available for Turkey? I was waiting for it

No Atari Flashback Vol.3 again this week ? …

go on put it again next week, just for a laugh.

Gee i tried to download this when they upload this to the Store a couple of weeks ago went to pay for it & it flagged up on the screen no content selected sounds like there must be some strange goings on at SCEE.

Something you will have to understand they don,t like Retro Stuff all that much so it tends to get over looked by more modern Stuff not that its much better (well that,s just my Opinion anyway) i expect they got some poor excuse for not releasing it yet

Gal Gunvolt Burst is a crossplay/buy title right? So where’s the Vita version/info? Tired of this happening again and again.I know it’s such a drag to have to support a system still available on the market but units of games are still being sold, lets us spend the money [DELETED].

be careful with Regalia Men and Monarchs, a bug from August 2017 was never fixed with the PS4 version. I’m unsure why Sony would allow this but anything for a quick buck

it can easily void a trophy as once the game takes the 2000 when it checks for 4000 the quest is then permanently bugged unless you start again
