Full details on God of War’s New Game+ mode, releasing 20th August

Higher level enemies, new gear upgrades and cinematic skipping come to the PS4 epic later this month

God of War New Game+ will be available as a free patch update on August 20th (that’s our 4th month anniversary already). Remember, to access all the greatness of New Game+, you’ll need to complete the story campaign of God of War on any difficulty.

If you already did, New Game+ will be ready and waiting for you on 20th August once you’ve patched. If you haven’t beaten the game yet, you’ve got two weeks, friend. Your boat and axe and BOI are waiting.

So what is God of War New Game+? It’s inspired by your feedback first and foremost.

With New Game+ comes along a host of new gear, more difficult enemies, and cinematic skipping!

God of War New Game +

  • Relive the journey of Kratos and Atreus with all of your previous armours, enchantments, talismans, resources and abilities on the difficulty of your choosing.
  • Test your skills against higher level enemies; some of which might even have a few new tricks up their sleeves!
  • Unique to New Game+ is a brand new rarity level of equipment to craft and upgrade! Collect ‘Skap Slag’, a new resource to upgrade your gear to the best of the best from our finest blacksmiths.
  • Play the game in a whole new way by exploring new customisation options with extremely powerful new armour sets and enchantments.
  • Finally, get right back into the action with the newly added ability to skip through cinematics in both normal and New Game+ modes once a full play through has been completed.

This is easily our biggest update to God of War. We’re certainly looking forward to seeing who completes Give Me God of War New Game+ mode first. That’s a feat! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your patience and allowing us the development time necessary to create New Game+. It arrives August 20th.

Any new trophies? Horizon Zero Dawn had a couple

Yes finally, now I can re play the game on easy mode and kill the Valkyrie queen this time

(Trust me its hard)

The enemies are way harder so good luck

Excellent news!

Just got my Platinum trophy the other day! Can’t wait to dive in again with all my gear! ))

Thank you soooo much for this beautiful game and for great ongoing support!

I need to kill all the Ravens and find all dig spots, plus the Jotnar Shrines.. Waste of time..

I just kind of liked snooping around the map )

“cinematic skipping”

Does this mean you can skip any moments of exposition/dialogue, like when the characters sort of talk and walk slowly? Can someone clarify this please.

Yes i guess

Hope they put some new trophies related to NG+ as well, for extra incentive.

Now i have good excuse to return and finally kill thosse Valkyries

they were such a pain in the A** on hard mode

damn, and i sold the game :(

I sold my copy after getting the Plat purely because Cory Barlog stated earlier in the year that there were no plans for any DLC or expansions. Lo and behold….

There is no dlc or expansion. New game + is same game but harder from what i know

“new customisation options with extremely powerful new armour sets and enchantments”

“a brand new rarity level of equipment to craft and upgrade!”

” Collect ‘Skap Slag’, a new resource to upgrade your gear to the best of the best from our finest blacksmiths”

Sounds like an expansion to me.

its an update

As much as i love gow (still got to go back to do stuff to plat) i am happy for you hardcore players that you are getting new+ but im not interested.

You guys had a real opportunity to produce DLC content for this game. Hands down best single player cinematic, story and action I’ve played this year. Still, good to have a reason to revisit Kratos’s world.

They said there would be no DLC and they’d prefer to focus on making the next full game (especially now this much requested feature has been added and people can stop asking). :)

I had written it off due to too many changes etc. but am enjoying it from time to time. “Teal’c” does a way better job at Kratos than I would have expected and I’m pleased to see his personality hasn’t changed as much as the rest of the series. The kid who everyone found annoying is actually quite fun to hang around with and a nice counterbalance to the grumpy, quiet Kratos :p Normally I would have finished a traditional GoW in a few sittings but this one is taking a lot longer. So good in terms of replay value, less so in terms of pacing and story imo. Better than expected (although I knew it would be good in general, just didn’t think it’d be as good a GoW game) but I still think I would’ve prefered this to be a new series and having a traditional GoW on hand as well…

Can’t handle, im hyped too much
