Destiny 2: Forsaken launches today on PS4

Bungie detail the new enemies, supers and challenges that await in its new adventure

Hey it’s DeeJ from Bungie here on the eve of a brand-new adventure in the world of Destiny. We’re so excited for you all to experience what we’ve created in Forsaken. You have a whole gang of new enemies to fight, and some deeply personal motivation to take them down. The hunt begins from today, 4th September.

We’ve loaded a lot of new things for you to experience on your journey. The Scorn are the most aggressive enemy we’ve ever created for you to fight. You’ll have a whole new arsenal of weapons to earn, customise, and equip in some surprising ways.

We’re giving you a lot more freedom to configure your Guardian to be a true reflection of your personality and your fighting style. There are also nine new super attacks to master – that’s three for each class of Guardian.

Once you’ve defeated the Barons, a whole new endgame destination opens up in the form of the Dreaming City, a place of mysteries, challenges, and the best rewards the game has to offer.

The second year of Destiny 2 begins with Forsaken. This promises to be a transformative moment. We’ve invested deeply in giving you new ways to track your hobby as a warrior of the light. Check out all the new systems that will let you collect gear, track your triumphs, and learn more about the world you’re exploring along the way.

Forsaken begins the Season of the Outlaw. Many more will follow. Every player of Destiny 2 will be invited to experience special events and updates to the game. We have a lot planned for the year to come.

But it all starts down a path to avenge Cayde-6.

We hope you’ll join us.

DeeJ, out.

Is the ‘new this week’ post coming back?

Here are you top 5 games this week:

1.) Spiderman: whether you’re a 6 year old child or just an infantilized victim of american popculture, you’ll love the new Infamous that comes with a shiny Marvel license that will let fanboys overlook its repetitive gameplay and lack of originality.

2.) Dragon Quest XI: it has kiddy graphics and turn based combat.

3.) Atari Classic Collection: come pay 30 EUR for a bunch of games that are nearly as old as the Spiderman comics that the new Infamous is based on.

4.) Destiny 2 Forsaken: hey it’s why we gave you the base game this month!

5.) The Messnger: oops my bad, only for PC and Switch.

Leave your salt in passive aggressive comments below !

They’re probably only contractually obliged to write the new this week if it promotes VR in some way. So as there’s no VR shovelware there’s no point writing it..

Dragonquest XI is probably the best one this week by far (ignoring the terrible voice overs (you can disable) and bizarre localization)…

well there’s Zone of the Enders coming, but really, playing VR makes me feel uncomfortable and for that it just isn’t worth it for me anymore.

I actually like the kiddy graphics in Dragon Quest XI, it’s just the turn based combat that’s puttin me off. But I’m doing a sabbatical this month anyway and taking a month off from gaming. Will actually read some books

Bungie revealed today that there won’t be any new planets in this DLC.

In other words, another lazy overpriced DLC.

Dictionary meaning is apt…

Forsake (Forsaken)

1. To give up; renounce

2. To leave altogether; abandon

(like most of your players)

I was looking forward to playing it today but how pleased am I that following a 36gb pre-load I now have another 7.5gb update. Give you a clue. Not very. Having slow network it only finished downloading yesterday afternoon but now I can’t play what I preordered because of the horrendous sized update (how many bugs were in the pre-load to need an update that big?). Thank Kratos I’m not capped but there will be those that are like me with slow networks and/or do have caps

It’s a shame that there’s no reasonable way to get back in after I had bought the base game on release at full price.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have some sort of general post on the blog each Monday or so to let players know what new games will be released during the following week, maybe even of list form? You could call that “New on PlayStation Store this week” – sounds really catchy and I feel people might appreciate the service.

I got the base game with plus and tbh I have no intention of buying the any of the dlc, was just going to run through story and delete. It now asking me to delete 48gb of my hd to carry on playing!

Anyone know how big it is in total after patch? think I’ll just have to get rid of it not having a game of this little quality taking up a 1/4 of my hd.

I honestly wasn’t expecting much after deleting Destiny 1 demo only after 1 hour of play, and also because of the rather bad word of mouth that surrounds Destiny 2, but gosh, how addicted I became to this game. If priced well sometime next year I will be willing to buy the extra DLCs, of course if everything packaged together.

Thanks for destiny 2 I vowed not to buy it after being ripped off when I bought destiny so glad its on my ps plus I’m gonna play it to death for no money and take pleasure in it btw I yay for spiderman I actually bought that one because you get what you pay for unlike bungie.

Am I right in thinking that since you “gave” us Destiny 2 base edition, we are now locked out of any possible upgrade offers, short of buying the whole game on disc?!? Every Forsaken option shows as unavailable on PSN now that I have the base game…

If that’s the case, then you’ve just shot yourself in the foot completely. I might well give the game a shot, but if the update you’re touting as the greatest improvements ever is locked behind that kind of paywall, then why would I bother…

You need to buy the last 2 expansions first, then you can buy the forsaken expansion.

I wonder if gamers (some of them anyway) have to make an extra special effort to try not to complain all the time. There are plenty of games that don’t appeal to me but I don’t show up in every blog post for them to complain about a game I’ll never play anyway.

Blacksheepwall, the store says 104gb as of September 2018. I’d need to check but I think my internet plan has a 100gb data cap…

Thank you. That’s crazy and way too big for a game I would only play occasionally. Was enjoying it in small chunks but I’d have to delete games I prefer just to update it.

I was on the fence about getting it, but after the Forsaken update I’ve decided not to. I really hate all these substantial and drastic changes so late into a game’s life. Light level ruined Destiny 1 for me as well and I completely abandoned it after that. I hate how they went back to the D1 weapon set-up. I personally liked it better in D2, it was less confusing and made more sense to me. Now I can have my Osirus shotgun as a primary but not as my power weapon where it’s always been? So much for giving me more options, lol. And the mods I hated at first but then got used to it and started building up a stash to further personalize my characters, and now they got rid of that too! If anything, this update has me convinced NOT to come back, eventhough I was still enjoying the game periodically. Why don’t you keep all those changes for Destiny 3? This series is already pretty confusing and convoluted as it is, these major changes only make things worse imo. Arguably the only update of...

Arguably the only update of any positive significance is the one where exotics can get a catalyst eventhough this should’ve been the case from the start.
