This week’s PlayStation Store highlights: Marvel’s Spider-Man, Destiny 2: Forsaken, NBA 2K19, V-Rally and Boundless

Plus the full list of new releases for the week ahead

It’s a big week on PlayStation Store, there’s no doubt about it – huge, in fact. We’ve got big hitters from pretty much every genre swaggering their way onto our digital storefront this week and, if we’re being honest, most of them don’t need any introduction at all.

So there won’t be: no introductions, no formalities, we’re just diving right in!

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man

Yes, here it is at last, the highly-anticipated and long-awaited open-world Spider-Man adventure from Insomniac Games. Soar above the streets of Manhattan as the intrepid web-slinger himself in a new take on the series set eight years after Peter Parker first pulled on his iconic red and blue suit.

With an entire city at your feet, a myriad of Super Villains to contest with and all kinds of abilities and outfits to unlock, there’ll be no shortage of excuses to live-out your Super Hero fantasies.

2. Destiny 2: Forsaken

Travel to the Prison of Elders with wise-cracking Hunter Vanguard Cayde-6 to investigate an attempted prison break. After things go badly awry it’ll be up to you to take justice into your own hands in the fight to restore order.

Complete with a vast new cinematic campaign, new locations to explore, armour and weapons to unlock and an all-new raid to test your mettle against, Destiny 2: Forsaken is the next big chapter in the Destiny 2 saga.

3. NBA 2K19 20th Anniversary Edition

Celebrating 20 years of sports gaming, the NBA 2K team return with the latest franchise instalment. It’s time to take the neighbourhood by storm once more as you build your own career in the world of professional basketball.

Build your reputation on and off the court and or put together your own fantasy squad of players in myTEAM mode – pick up the 20th Anniversary Edition to start the season with extra currency and digital items.

4. V-Rally 4

Embark on a spectacular journey across the continents as you take on demanding rally, rally-cross, drift, buggy and hill-climbing events amid some of the world’s most stunning backdrops.

V-Rally 4 brings the classic rally sport series to PlayStation 4 with over 50 different cars to discover, collect, upgrade and customise, dozens of real-world locations to explore and a range of hostile conditions against which to contend.

5. Boundless

Looking for a pretty much limitless adventure? Boundless has you covered. Venture to a vast, procedurally-constructed universe and work with friends to build civilisation wherever you touch down.

From barren desert planets to ferocious and unstable volcanic worlds, all is there to be explored, settled, mined from and ruled over as you teleport across a boundless universe of undiscovered worlds.

Pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition to start your adventure with bags of extra goodies to get you going.

Friendship ended with Square Enix. Now Activision and 2K Games are my best friends.

I think it should be vice versa…

Can’t wait to play SpiderMan hearing really positive reviews from the gaming media so it should be amazing to play.. I preorder it like week ago and can’t wait to come from work on Friday to play it.. Hope everyone reading this will have a great week of gaming no matter are you preparing to play something thats coming out this week or its already out and you are enjoying it,whatever it is hope you wil have great time fellow PlayStation owners..

really? you didn’t want to highlight dragon quest?

3.1

Exactly!Came on to comment the same thing.I’m excited about Spiderman but Dragon Quest XI has been my most anticipated game of the year!

3.2

They had the option of highlighting a long, well made game with no season pass(es), no cut content as DLC, no crossovers, no “royal upgrade” no hold O to win combat or shallow characters from a boyband. Or a shell of a heavily advertised game with multiple DLCs and season passes of removed content and laziness and a yearly sports title with a few name changes.

So of course they went for the heavily advertised shell of a game with no content.

Yeah I’m also surprised at the lack of fanfare for Dragon Quest. I’ll be picking it up for sure, gotta support the return to consoles.

I’m also gonna avoid the Destiny expansion likes it’s the plague

I pre-ordered Dragon Quest and the edition of light content is missing. I tried live chat and was told I have a licence for it so it should be on my download list…. it’s not.

Still the game is phenomenal. 8 hours in and loving every last minute.

I have exactly same problem! I only got thr preorder bonuses, edition of light dlcs aren’t even listed as available to download. I e-mailed support yesterday and am still waiting for a reply.

6.2

It’s not on my download list on the store either.

However, when i go to the game on the PS4 menu and then press down and go to the bottom (the store bit), they’re all listed there in “items I own”.

To acquire them in game is a bit weird. You have to make sure you download the 1mb files from that earlier list. Then in the game, in the menu go to settings, then “misc” or something then “collect rewards” (or something) and they should be listed.

Thanks for the destiny 2 was always a good game but out of defiance I wouldn’t buy it after the first one, you don’t release content then remove it then expect people to pay again to use content you already paid for so i would have never bought destiny 2. But I got my spiderman Pre-order in so just hurry up and let me play :) it’s been heavily advertised to the point I had to have it so job done on this sucker.

The Destiny 2 expansion title fits perfectly, lol!

What about last week? There are games that could use some exposure. I know Yakuza 2 Kiwami came out but I’d like to know if there is anything else that could pick my interest.

Kiryu Chan!

Anyone who even considers Tekken 7’s second season pass for more than 2.99 must have a really bad memory. For a reminder, here’s what we got in the first.

2 lazy characters from random games with terrible balance, no arcade “story” or movie (other than the trailer), and a single stage.

A rehash of Tekken Bowl done in the absolutely laziest way possible. Everyone sharing the same animations, no online vs, no teams, no mode specific dialog, no character unlock, no real point in playing it.

Though apparently we were to get “hundreds of costumes” that turned out to be an outright lie. There was basically a bikini, one Idolmaster costume, 3 Tekken movie costumes, cloth underwear for the guys and a T shirt maybe. Normal people would consider this to be around 7, but somehow Namco consider this to be “hundreds” due to it being in different colors on different characters or something.

Oh also remember how “legacy characters will be free”.. So make sure to hold them to that.

Exactly. I pre-ordered the digital deluxe version thinking we could see legacy costumes and a handful of fighters. The rumoured $24.99 price tag (so £24.99 because that’s how it works apparently) can take a hike. I want my Yoshimitsu from Tekken 3 back and legacy characters to be put back for free. Oh and congrats on hiding Lei from the bad guys, No one recognises him now.

9.2

I’m not really sure what they’re doing with Lei, when i saw him I thought he was a new character.

Lei is basically Jacky Chan, so it’s not like they didn’t have an easy basis. He just looks like some random drunk guy from the US (and doesn’t even have the right accent).

9.3

So as expected the season pass is $24.99/£24.99 (so more expensive than the first “season”).

“Also, we do not sell classic Tekken characters, Paid DLC will be special content” was a total lie..

Urgh, if they’d just been honest and said “Season pass 1 will have 7 costumes total and legacy characters will all be 4.99” it would be less of a problem..this game has been one long string of disappointments and lies.

Bring on Forsaken, I bloody love destiny.

What happened to last weeks post? I didn’t see it, anything come out last week other than yakuza?
