Laser League and Friday the 13th: The Game are your PlayStation Plus games for October

Master Reboot, The Bridge, Rocketbirds 2 and 2064 Read Only Memories also join the service

With September winding down it’s time to say ‘farewell’ to the scorching summer and a big fat ‘Boo!’ to autumn. We obviously couldn’t let it pass without serving up a little seasonal treat for PlayStation Plus users, so to get you in the mood for a spook-tacular Halloween, we’re kicking-off October with notorious horror icon and sporting goods aficionado Jason Voorhees.

Here are the games joining PlayStation Plus on 2nd October:

Friday the 13th: The Game

Friday the 13th: The Game

Gun Media’s Friday the 13th: The Game is a faithful adaptation of the iconic movie series, pitting up to seven fresh-faced young high-schoolers against one lone, maniac killer.

It’s your chance to step into the shoes of one of Camp Crystal Lake’s ill-fated student counsellors, or strap on the iconic hockey mask yourself and go hunting for helpless teenagers.

Each side has their strengths and weaknesses. If you’re the man with the machete, you’ll have special powers and abilities to help you hunt your would-be victims. If you’re one of those on the run, you’ll have a selection of improvised tools – along with the power of teamwork – to see you through.

Who lives and who dies? Well, that’s up to how you play…

Laser League

Created by the studio behind the ruthlessly addictive OlliOlli skating series, Laser League is a lightning-fast competitive multiplayer game that starts out as a simple test of raw reflexes and fast becomes a deeply-strategic team showdown.

Playing either 2-vs-2 or 3-vs-3, the basic goal is simple: eliminate the opposition. Choose from a series of class abilities that will define you playstyle – offense, defensive or tactical – and then enter an arena and take control of laser points on the field into order to trap and eliminate your opposition.

The more you play the deeper it gets, with game-changing power-ups that can completely up-end the balance of power.

PS Plus bonus title: Knowledge is Power

The perfect game to cabin-up with as the nights begin to draw in, Knowledge is Power pits up to six players against one another in a race to the top of the Pyramid of Knowledge. Inch your way up by answering questions, completing tasks and occasionally trying to trip-up your fellow contestants, all in the name of jolly-good fun.

And you can put those Dualshock controllers down – as a PlayLink title, Knowledge is Power needs nothing but your handy smart phone.

Anything else?

We’ve an additional four titles for PS Vita and PS3, three of which you can also download for your PS4. Put them all together and October’s PS Plus line up looks like this:

These will all be available to download on PlayStation Store from 2nd October. In the meantime, why not check out September’s line-up to make sure you didn’t miss anything:

That’s all for now – join us again next month to find out what big games will be coming to PS Plus in November and let us know how you get on with October’s games over on Twitter and Facebook.

marry me!

This is a particularly bud month for me. I am not into multiplayer games at all so both being MP only is a bit of a dud. Also, with Drawn To Death servers being shutdown soon, aren’t we being given games that will expire sooner than our memberships? I have been with plus since launch and have around 10 games that are no longer usable. Maybe this should be thought about more carefully when selecting games for the service?

Please list the 10 games you can no longer play online(servers shut) that you got from PSPlus. Not PS4 games that’s for sure, maybe PS3. But why would that bother you when you say you don’t like online games?….will wait for reply.

Whoever selected and provided funding for Drawn to Death was no doubt a longtime close friend inside Sony with David Jaffe. Everyone with half a brain could see that game was destined to be dead on arrival after it’s first trailer it was shown. I remember writing a scathing breakdown way ahead of it’s release somewhere. It should be noted I’m a just a nobody. I don’t have any voice in the industry. I don’t run a blog, website or even held the position of a unpaid intern mopping up pee inside IGN’s offices. The comment I left was on a random a subreddit or under a news article. This is no BS, his legit secretary was trying to contact me on Jaffe’s behalf to arrange a Facetime session. I couldn’t believe the head of a games studio’s confidence in his project was that misguided and fragile that he’s willing to scour the internet for “trolls” and wanted to single out and contest the opinions of total strangers online. I imagine many others received these invitations from the crazed Jaf...

You do the legwork right after you subscribe to plus troll. I’m not your puppet.

Nice (NO)(NO)(NO) are you serious?

Seriously Sony? More online-only/multiplayer trash? Never subbing to Plus ever again.

Lazer league got 80+% on metacritic so hardly trash.(you will keep subbing)

and it was in almost all possible bundles for 1$

So you save a buck they all count

That’s a bad month…

I used to at least try each of the ps+ games but I guarantee you I won’t be wasting my time on this. Friday 13th looks and sounds almost exactly like that horror one from the other month. If only you offered as many RPGs and Action / Adventure games as you do Horror… ?

I completely agree.

I think 2064 is an adventure game.

Master Reboot and The Bridge for me, guess the “leak” about Diablo 3 and Nioh was just wishful thinking…

always a great sounding rumor or 2 around leading up to these. master reboot was pretty good though, enjoy.

bad month

Makes one wonder why the subscription fee went up… disappointing

Friday the 13th is just as bad or worse as Dead by Daylight. I was expecting a LEGO game – which we never got -, but this is far the worst month in the life of PS+. Don’t know what you guys are doing with our money.. the games are bad and boring and the servers doesn’t improving.

Destiny 2 and God of War 3 remastered were good and fun

Wow just when you think it can’t get any worse, what a terrible month. 2 PvP games…are they having a laugh! What a joke of a month. Easily and i mean EASILY the worst month ever by a long way! I hate PvP. Thanks Sony.

If you hate PvP maybe try one of the other 3 games available that are single player.

less disapointing if they said “we’re just going to extend september until november”. in fairness who cares, ops 4 and rdr2 this month, what free games are going to divert attention from that.

I was really hoping that Diablo 3 rumour was real. After that this month feels like trash. Even the Sniper Elite II rumour was more appealing than these…. things.

Given that there were two “leaks” I wasn’t really expecting nioh, sniper 3 or diablo, but this is just depressing. A bit of love for vita owners is something, I guess.

Common , Nioh? wakey wakey. i was expecting No man’s buy (eh sky) or The last of us

Not every month is going to be a winner… Last month was worth the entire year for me. But I wanted to play Rocketbirds 2: Evolution : So can’t complain. Also I get plus so I can play on line … But !!!! If Sony combined Plus with Now that will be amazing.

A PS3 port that’s constantly on sale and a demo of a bad game were worth an entire year?

GOW 3 on amazon £24.99 Destiny 2 £8.69 he wanted both the games. So not quite worth a whole year of plus but he wanted to play Rocketbirds 2 so that about rounds up to the years worth of cash he paid for his plus

GOW 3 has been cheaper on PSN sale than Amazon but still not bad value for only 2 months out of the 12

dang this is a grim month

Another multiplayer horror game we already had dead by daylight and i didn’t play it, and now laser league

Bring back the single player games

A wasted month

On the good side, at least there’s no more in the multiple vs 1 horror genre left to give!

Only a little over £4 chill out. Still get the online access, cloud saves and bigger discounts on bought games on the store.

PS3 and Vita titles look good. But PS4 is complete trash. Dead by Daylight, then Destiny and now two(!) multiplayer games as headliners of the month. While I think I’ll enjoy 2064 and Rocketbirds this is hands down the worst month for PS4 ever. Absolutely zero variation.

The Bridge is good but the other PS3/Vita games are terrible.

Well if you think you will get to enjoy 2 free games this month and its the worst month ever plus must be pretty good.

Read my comment again. I said FOR PS4. I’ll play the games on my Vita and Vita is also the only reason they’re on the list. The fact that they’re cross-buy has nothing to do with PS+ but with the decision of the developers when they released the game.

Every month there are two headlining games. Every month they are PS4 games, usually bigger titles. This time they’re complete

Exceedingly bad. Not that I ever download anything from PS+ anyway… 10 years and counting for a fair subscribtion that only charges me for what I actually use, online capabilities. Which honestly should be free to begin with. PS+ is the worst thing to have ever disgraced this brand, even before it was mandatory for basic online. Every month I’m forced to subscribe to this, it’s like you’re handing out bad publicity, and it’s been going on for sooo long… *facepalm* Even my loyalty has its limits. Give us a fair deal, finally!

I completely agree.

So a fair deal is giving you everything for free?

Give people a choice, simple. I do not want online saves when I can simply use an USB device. If I do not want loot box style “pray and win” monthly games so why should I pay for it? End of the day I’m being forced to pay £50 just to play online! Like @stonesthrow said, even loyalty has it limits.

Wow, that’s bad. When I saw the rumour about Nioh and Diablo I was well excited and this has massively fallen short of expectations! After such a fantastic pair of games last month (of which I owned both) I was hoping for something equally amazing this month, hopefully being ones I wouldn’t own. Friday 13th is way too similar a game to give out a couple of months after dead by daylight. Did all the budget go on September’s games??

Please, I wouldn’t be surprised if Activision actually paid Sony to put Destiny 2 on PS+ list. Expansion came out the same month so they hooked people by giving them “free” game and forcing them to buy the expansion because otherwise they wouldn’t be able to enjoy the game fully. It locks some content I believe, some modes.

It was already down to like 10€ for physical copies. You ever notice they’re always that cheap when they hit PS+? I’d rather just buy the one game in a decade that might be worth downloading for 10 bucks than have to subscribe for 10 years at hundreds of € and not even get to keep the game unless I keep doing so. This whole subscription concept is the worst I’ve ever heard of. And then they made it mandatory for online to top it all off, lol. Nothing short of laughable.

Yeah, its scummy as [DELETED]. Its too bad i have so many friends on Ps4. I wouldnt give Sony a single dollar if it weren’t for that single reason.

Note to leakers, next time please leak some s*it games so we get something good and not games like these. Huge let down.

“Anything else?”

Apparently no.

Well… The Bridge is actually a good puzzle game!

I dont have a problem if there is some month with not very good games, after all last month was great… But giving us friday the 13th 2 months after dead by daylight??? I really dont get it. Who and why did choose this game? What a joke. Its basically the same game. Btw laser league looks like something i wouldnt play even on psp…

Yeah does seem a bit odd to give us a horror game in October especially so close to Halloween.

1st of all Halloween is celebrated mainly in North America, in Europe its not so popular and in the past we had different games for EU and NA. 2nd there are plenty of horror games they could give us and they gave us basically the same game as 2 months ago. 3rd why you are not ps plus member if you think these games are so great?

Well I live in England. Tell my little Nephews we don’t celebrate Halloween, Play one of the other games if that ones to similar. I am a plus member don’t know why the cross is not showing feel free to add me if you don’t believe me.

Awful month for PS4. I was already feeling a bit annoyed with how many online multiplayer games have been in plus lately, but now 2 of them in the same month? It’s bad enough that the Vita and the PS3 games are being dropped in March, without having the PS4 section full of games I have no interest in playing as well.

Pretty sure this is revenge for the whole giving us cross play on Fortnite thing…

Thats what I do when i dont like someone, throw free games at them.

Last time I checked I paid a subscription for these “free” games. But sure, shovel junk at us and we’ll keep paying.

Yeah screw those 5 hardworking developers who put there love, passion and hearts into making videogames for us.

Didnt know you could read so much into a poop emoji but seriously dude, chill out, listening to customer complaints is an importent part of running a business, so stop being hostile towards everyone who isnt happy with this months selection.

So the poop emoji doesn’t mean you are pooping over the games on offer next month? What would you like Sony to take from the poop emoji in ways to improve there business. If I called you a piece of poop then said chill out how would you take it?

Im happy wanted friday the 13th be playing that over halloween,ps+ works well if you are behind with games more chance of getting games you don’t own yet.

Oh well, still better then that garbage cryengine Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 rumour lol.

Jusses Christ…

This is a terrible month. Isn’t Friday the 13th pretty much dead in the water because they got hit by a lawsuit by using unlicensed stuff thus ending any further dlc?

Wow. I didn’t even know about this until I saw your comment. I already got Friday the 13th on sale a while ago, but it being added to PS Plus so soon after Dead by Daylight and recently losing the lawsuit you mentioned, preventing further development, is just ridiculous.

I usually try to see the positive about “weaker” PS Plus line-ups, but that game was a horrible decision.

Well it had an update 18hrs ago and is being taken over by a whole new development team for future work on the game.

Carnivius_Prime 26 September, 2018 @ 18:12

Might give Laser League a go. I already have Friday the 13th…and an odd choice since Dead By Daylight is very similar and was on Plus recently (though F13 is better)

Pathetic yet again.

Very poor month.

Pretty lame

Still waiting for the “haha we got you there” post …. anything? But then again I suppose if they’d given us a huge line-up perhaps they were worried that announcing it and cross-play in one day would make all their customers explode with joy so perhaps they’re holding back for our own good? ??

like that Michael Jackson song, “all I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us”.

in case you guys didn’t know, if you have amzn prime you automatically have twitch prime, which gives you a few monthly pc games as well, DRM free and yours to keep forever. but you need to install twitch app to download the games, just make sure to disable its automatic start up in windows task manager.

you can even sign up for amzn prime, download games, watch a movie, listen to some Katey Perry and cancel your subscription a few day later and opt to cancel immediately so they will give you back your money for the days you didn’t use. ;)

So you think Amazon care about you?

lol no. those two comments were unrelated. I just found out about that twitch prime thing recently and thoght I’d share. the games I’ve downloaded so far aren’t that good either, but the kind of games they offer are perfect for my laptop with intel graphics. anyways, I’m building a small pc now because raven ridge processors are awesome and cheap. eventhough I’m builing for work, I’ll still be able to play all kind of games with quality settings roughly up to ps4, and thats only without a dedicated gpu. just waiting for the mobo to arrive :D

Okay, it isn’t quite Diablo III and Nioh, but okay, I can certainly make do with Friday the 13th and 2064: ROM. Laser League could be cool, too.

Way too much optomism the comment thread are gonna come after you.

Why do I pay for PS+ again?

How many months in a row do I have to post a comment saying oh dear I have all the games already. Please Sony have two packages one for PlayStation plus with the free games and one package without the games so for us people who have all these games can get the online access cheaper instead of paying £50 for a year subscription with free games we already own.

The games are Free!!!!!!! The yearly subscription you pay(the measly £4ish a month) is for online services, cloud saves and discounts on games.

When you pay your phone line and if they gave you 2 free games you wouldn’t whinge at them to not give you the games so you could pay less.

The games were part of PS+ long before the online services were.

How did you download the free ps plus games if they were there before the online service?

Willing to play em but already own Friday 13th and haven’t played it since there’s no future content for the game pretty weak month but oh well

Bog you all do like to complain, like you haven’t got anything else to play.

nukualofaperson 26 September, 2018 @ 20:19

I actually didn’t find this too shabby. I’ve been on the verge of buying The Bridge and Rocketbirds several times since their release, and also considered 2064. Personally I’m pleased, as I don’t have any this month’s games. My son’s been wanting Friday the 13th, but I don’t have very high hopes about that myself.

4-5 months ago I bought both DbD and Ft13 and they ended up being given for free in these last months. Damn, at least I got them on a cheap discount, but even if greatly into horror games, I rarely played both games. They are definitely worth to try out, but the lack of diversity and innovation may put many people off. Oh well, at least previous month made me to become a big Destiny fan, which I would have never imagined myself ever to become

I am officially now only paying the Sony Mandatory Online Gaming (or smog) tax to play online games which my pc friends pay nothing extra for and can purchase downloads much cheaper than the monopoly PS4 players are forced into if they want to run a game from the harddrive with a hardcopy purchase, and pay through the nose for the privilege of playing a game with their friends and not even hosting the servers, just traffic management and marketing.

And in case it wasn’t clear this month’s games again have the last 2 years of “free” games.???

Wow. Very disappointing especially after the rumours but it seems to be becoming the norm. Never mind, cheers anyway sony.

2064: Read Only Memories is a very good game.
