Prey, Metro 2033 Redux and Dirt 4 headline PlayStation Now’s January update

LocoRoco Remastered, Lock’s Quest and Styx: Shards of Darkness also join the service

What better salve for those post-holiday blues than a fresh batch of games joining the PlayStation Now service.

From today, immerse yourself in Metro 2033 Redux – an FPS survival adventure set in a post-apocalyptic Russia filled with mutated beasts. (And get yourself ready for its sequel Metro Exodus, out 15th February on PS4.)

Alternatively, climb aboard a space station infested with aliens that can mimic anything and everything in sci-fi shooter Prey from Arkane Studios – the creative minds behind the acclaimed Dishonored series.

Or if horror isn’t your thing, fling yourself around iconic race tracks from around the world in arcade racer Dirt 4.

Check out the full list of new additions joining PS Now today:

  • Metro 2033 Redux

  • Dirt 4

Ever planning on releasing PS Now in more countries? Sweden deserves better man!

Still waiting for the day that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax gets added to the PSNow lineup.

You don’t want to play a fighter over a streaming service…..

There are 50 countries in Europe, yet in only 9 Sony offers this “global” service. Isn’t this against the laws of European Union, shouldn’t all citizen be in equal status without discrimination? I mean people want to pay for this service and Sony doesn’t take it

There are now EU laws against geoblocking, but they apply only to cases where it’s “unjustified” to restrict access to a digital service based on location. This potentially does apply to PlayStation Now. Sony could argue that availability of PlayStation Now is dependent on geographical proximity to servers so they have to be able to restrict access geographically. That might stand up in court but to find out someone would need to sue Sony for unjustifiable restriction of access to this service. While PlayStation Now is a nice service to have access to, there’s probably not many people willing to spend the time and money needed to force its availability through the European court system.

Nothing much of interest added this month if I’m honest. We need Sony exclusives added such as Uncharted 4, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous Second Son, The Order 1886, The Last Guardian plus PS4 versions of Uncharted collection, Last of Us and Shadow of the Colossus Also, games that should be added soon-ish would be HZD and Uncharted Lost Legacy. Both of these have been out a little while now. Another good addition I think would be all of the Playlink titles so people can have some multiplayer games.

Oh, and some more Sports games wouldn’t go a miss (although EA have most of them so I guess that won’t happen).

Finally, where in the hell is Benelux?!! I’ve never heard of that place.

Be(lgium) Ne(therlands) Lux(embourg)

It seems you didn’t learn geography at school. @tomford

I certainly did learn georgraphy at school @bedzso. But seeing as Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg are seperate countries I would have assumed they would be listed as such. Literally never heard of the all encompassing term ‘Benelux’. Isn’t that just lazy writing? Maybe it’s not a UK thing. Maybe I’m old and it wasn’t taught like that back in the nineties. Who knows. Why didn’t they list the others as Gefraauswi and be done with it? (That’s Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland combined into one word in case you were wondering).

Excellent! Prey is an incredible game for anyone who hasn’t played it yet. I look forward to playing Metro.

Why does US get Project Cars 2!

Also it wouldn’t surprise me if Prey is one of next months PS Plus games.
