Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day prologue gameplay footage

Watch action-packed gameplay during the events of A-Day in Marvel’s Avengers

Everyone working on Marvel’s Avengers across our global team is proud to officially release the full A-Day demo footage to the world, which features the Avengers defending San Francisco in what will become one of the most harrowing days for the Super Hero team yet.

The majority of the video takes place on the famous Golden Gate Bridge where Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Black Widow spring into action after a mysterious attack interrupts the festivities of A-Day, a celebration unveiling a new Avengers Headquarters and experimental Helicarrier technology.

As the tutorial level and prologue for Marvel’s Avengers, this segment is meant to give you taste of what’s to come.

We want to thank everyone who waited patiently for us to officially release gameplay footage online. We know how excited you all are to see Marvel’s Avengers in action, and get a better understanding of each Avenger’s unique playstyle.

Since our E3 reveal, the team has been polishing the prologue to ensure the highest quality possible and will continue to do so with the entire game until it ships on 15th May2020. For those who saw our demo at E3 or Marvel Games’ Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, we hope you notice the updates and improvements we made to the visual fidelity, character models, animations, and more.

But for now, let’s explore what you’re seeing in the video more closely! Thor, the God of Thunder, is the first hero to be featured in the full A-Day footage. With his enchanted Asgardian hammer Mjolnir at his side, he pummels enemies down with mighty force and brutal throws.

One of Thor’s unique abilities is to pin an enemy down with Mjolnir while he continues to punch and kick his way to victory. Thor can recall Mjolnir at any time, which can then damage any enemy in its return path. As the God of Thunder, one of Thor’s electrifying Heroics calls forth lightning that will strike all enemies surrounding him.

Iron Man is up next! The Armored Avenger takes to the skies to fend off airborne enemies while expertly dodging enemy missiles aimed at taking him out. Similarly to Thor, Iron Man can fight in the air or the ground by using a combination of repulsor blasts, homing missiles, and his signature Unibeam to defeat any, in his own words, “B-movie actors” that come his way.

Once the threat of pulsar tanks arise, Bruce Banner is called in to transform into theHulk, smashing down into the fray. True to the rage-filled nature of the Hulk, he can effortlessly pick up enemies and use them as a weapon to knock out any other surrounding foes. He can even pick up two enemies and crush them together in a savage show of strength to prove “Hulk is strongest one there is!” Enemies at a distance also have a reason to cower as the Hulk can unearth chunks of the ground and hurl them with devastating power.

Avengers on PS4

While the Golden Gate Bridge is under attack, Captain America is assessing suspicious happenings aboard the Chimera Helicarrier. Upon being ambushed, Captain America dispatches his pursuers with his iconic shield throws combined with hand-to-hand combat, finishing them off with a concussive shield slam to the ground.

Finally, the villainous Taskmaster reveals himself to the Avengers and threatens to unleash a sonic bomb that could level most of the city. Recognising the “freak with the mask,” Black Widow tasks herself with eliminating the threat and is successful in pouncing atop him as he flies through the chaos of the bridge.

After expertly taking out his jetpack, Black Widow uses her agility and high-tech spy gear to weaken Taskmaster, but he’s learned some of the Avengers’ moves, such as Captain America’s shield throw, via his Photographic Reflexes ability. Before he can learn more, using her wits, Black Widow turns invisible to triumph over him.

After saving the bridge by disarming the sonic bomb, she uses her Widow’s Bite gauntlet to finish Taskmaster off then leads the team towards the next threat.

Marvel's Avengers on PS4

It is already too late when the Avengers realise that Taskmaster was just a distraction. The Avengers on the bridge watch in horror as the Helicarrier explodes with Captain America aboard. Although they don’t realise it yet, the true villain that pulled the strings during A-Day was Advanced Idea Mechanics (A.I.M.). A longstanding threat in the Marvel Universe, A.I.M.  believes that science, not Super Heroes, will save the world. Players will be tasked with reassembling Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to take on A.I.M. in Marvel’s Avengers.

We still have much more to show and will be bringing the demo to destinations around the world for you to get your hands on! Thank you for all the support, for the feedback we’ve received, and for the unwavering passion you have shown for Marvel’s Avengers. We’re hard at work making the game as mighty as possible and are constantly inspired by you, the fans. We have many more secrets to unveil as we continue the journey to launch.

We’ll have our next big beat in October and more to reveal in the coming months, but until then, enjoy the A-Day prologue and keep sharing your thoughts with us. Marvel’s Avengers arrives on PlayStation 4 on 15th May 2020. PS4 users will get exclusive benefits, including early access to the beta! More information on these benefits and the beta to come in the future.

On behalf of Team Marvel’s Avengers, thank you again for all the support and remember to embrace your powers!

Looks fun

Looks really bad :/ particle effects can only save so much with those horrible models and dated gameplay

this game is a mess, i would like to have a game focuses on only one avenager like Hulk, Iron Man or propably Thor with open world elements and better desgin and graphics

P.S. Black Widow and Captain America should be out of it

That way they wouldn’t have the synergy and interaction between the different Avengers, and the variety of switching between them and their playstyles.

We got plenty of open world games, something on rails with a crazy pacing like Uncharted can be a nice change. Especially if you just want to experience the story and not have to spend hundreds of hours exploring first.

It’s called the Avengers for a reason, not The Avenger.

Looks okay, considering they got more time to polish. Got reminded of three games while watching this footage. Batman in terms of hand-to-hand combat, Infamous in terms of shooting, and Uncharted in terms of pacing and crazyness going on.

On the rails garbage, come back in 5 years with a decent game instead of this cash grab.

Not every game needs to be open world or online focused. There’s a lot to be said for a tight, story driven adventure. Some of the best games of the last decade have been exactly that.

I am not disputing tight story driven adventures. I am telling you, this isn’t one of them

This is their first gameplay footage and it’s the prologue… How can you form a conclusive opinion of the story on that?

It really looks ridiculously easy.

At no point did there seem to be any remote kind of danger or difficulty. When the characters actually got hit it took off minimal damage, and even the bosses didn’t seem challenging (just more QTEs).

I know easier games review better and are preferred by most people. But urgh.

It’s the tutorial level! If you die 100 times trying to learn how to play then no one will want to play the rest of the game

You haven’t even played the game. Don’t make judgements of the difficulty until you’ve actually experienced the godamn gameplay

he’s kinda right cause the npc’s are way too slow when it comes to the combat even for a tutorial

Oh my god, the amount of money marvel has and the characters and their voices are ridiculous there seems to be no difference between each characters style, their damage, i know it is only one scene but i was so excited to watch this but after it finished only dissapointment was left come on marvel you are better than this.

all of you saying the models look bad if u look at Peter on Spiderman and look at any of the Avengers (accept for Thor cause Thor looks disgusting af) the model’s or whatever are similar in looks and i mean out of their suits and dont be saying the graphics and models are bad before its playable because its ps4 pro enhanced for a reason. Watch when the game looks great when u actually get to play it. The worst thing I see about it is how slow enemy combat is.
