These are your new PlayStation Store releases this week

Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King, Afterparty and more come to PS4

With Halloween breathing down our necks, we’re back with this week’s slate of new PlayStation Store releases – and it’s a timely mix of the devilish and the wholesome.

Relive classic platforming adventures with Disney Classic Games: Aladdin & The Lion King, make a hilarious escape from the underworld in Afterparty or go on a Victorian space adventure in 39 Days to Mars.

Check out the highlights below and head over to PlayStation Store for more information*.

Disney Classic Games: Aladdin & The Lion King

Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King on PS4

Why it should be on your radar:
Feeling nostalgic? Return to the 16-bit era with these two retro platformers featuring enhanced visuals and customisable controls, alongside new features including instant saves, a rewind feature letting you jump back 15 seconds, and Game Viewer for watching full playthroughs.

Fly your magic carpet, fight sword-wielding enemies and pick up gems as you relive Aladdin’s adventure through Agrabah. Then reunite with Simba and his friends as he reclaims his rightful title as the Lion King.

Afterparty

Why it should be on your radar:
Night School Studio, the creator of Oxenfree, is back with another spooky title for you to enjoy this Halloween. Go on a dark buddy comedy as Milo and Lola, a pair of recently deceased friends who find themselves damned to an eternity in hell. Luckily, there’s a loophole! If you can out-party the Devil, he’ll grant you entry back to Earth.

Schmooze your way through an underworld where actions and dialogue options change the way your story unfolds. Completing a quest in one area can mean the destruction of another…

39 Days to Mars

39 Days to Mars on PS4

Why it should be on your radar:
If you’re looking for something fun and whimsical to play with a friend, pick up this two-player co-op adventure inspired by the works of Heath Robinson and Jules Verne.

Take control of two hapless British inventors sailing to Mars for a cup of afternoon tea. Solve puzzles and try to keep your ship from falling apart as you fix water leaks, fight space monsters and even bake a few scones. Solo space travellers can team up with the ship’s computer-controlled cat.

Eastshade

Eastshade on PS4

Why it should be on your radar:
Those of you who prefer a peaceful adventure should dive into this open-world exploration game from Eastshade Studios. Play a travelling painter exploring the island of Eastshade as you learn about the inhabitants’ lives and create beautiful artwork.

Obtain schematics and crafting materials to help you get around obstacles and complete quests. Work on your paintings anywhere in the world and offer them to locals. If you’re lucky, maybe they’ll help you unlock a secret or give you items in return.

Castle Costume

Why it should be on your radar:
Halloween doesn’t have to be all about gore and nightmare-inducing horrors. This platform adventure is perfect for those of you who want to celebrate the holiday with light-hearted spookiness.

You play as a young boy exploring a world trapped in an endless cycle of Halloween by Angry Aron, a child who was scorned one Halloween night. Travel between four unique worlds as you gather collectables, unlock special abilities and encounter wacky characters along the way.

Xeno Crisis for me. It’s like Smash TV/Robotron sorta thing and has beautiful pixel art by Henk Nieborg, a legend in the field in the past 30 years or so. :) It was actually available as of this morning on the PS Store but I haven’t got it yet cos I’ve spent too much money lately and got no spare for games so will have to wait til a lil later but yeah I’m having that. :)

Agree about the Smash TV vibes of Xeno Crisis-nice spotting! Still no sign of Battle Princess Madelyn getting a price fix soon, sadly!

Otherwise interested in Afterparty after Night School’s atmospheric Oxenfree & Aladdin/Lion King but probably need to wait for some sales as still a backlog of wishlists with the likes of River City Girls, Castle Crashers,Blazing Chrome etc.,too!

Wonder whats happening with Ultracore? Last update on Strictly Limited’s website said October!

Hi, are you going to make an official statement regarding the non-functional Download Queue with content bundles?

I kept asking for weeks regarding that issue and the other one with the “Last 7/30 days” section, and i had to learn from another user about their apparent “retirement” due to some “stability” issue… really why are you doing this? Silently retiring useful features and keeping others non-functional for several months?

You misunderstand the Sony announcement procedure.

It’s basically one guy who goes into the wilderness and shouts it into a canyon.

It’s where you had to go to find out about Sony discontinuing the Vita in march, and them deciding not to sell it in Europe years before.

Excuse me, but what?

Spirit of the North looks amazing

Another week waiting for Fight´N Rage, another disappointment.

I was fortunate/unfortunate enough to get my copy of Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD fornthe Switch on Saturday. Anyone that is tempted to buy this game because of their fond memories of the Gamecube Original should avoid it like the plague. It is barely a shadow of the great original. The tight controls and physics have gone. The camera is a steady as a drunk uncle at a wedding and the mini games are the laziest work I have seen in a MP ever.

Why is there a Call of Duty DLC on the IRISH store that all the proceeds from sales go to U.S and U.K retired military?

Why not give some of the money to retired IRISH military?

If you know your history you’d understand why Irish people may not want to contribute to retired ENGLISH military.

They don’t really see Europe as different countries I think. Wouldn’t expect a Japanese company to see one island as two different Irelands.

6.2

The European store is overseen by Sony Europe.

6.3

SIE aren’t a Japanese company anymore, it’s been a US company since the launch of the PS4 (which explains lots of the issues and strange directions afterwards).

The choice of countries was probably down to those being where the military whatevers providing technical advise were from.

What happened with last week’s announced Virtual Virtual Reality?

And no PBA Pro Bowling in the lineup of games… again. :(

Eastshade, finally! Fantastic game, I’ve been waiting for ages for this one.

I sense one tiny oversight in the list:

YAKUZA 4 REMASTERED is also out this week on PS4.

If you have bought the Yakuza Remastered collection, you can download it now.

If you are wondering what the Yakuza Remastered Collection is: it allows you to download remasters of Yakuza 3 and 4 now, while Yakuza 5 will be made available as well, in February. It is priced at the low end of one new release (€60), and contains 300 hours of gameplay, 160 hours of which can be downloaded to your PS4 RIGHT NOW, if you so choose.

Choose wisely.

Contraptions has appeared on this list 3 consecutive weeks and it is still not out in UK. Sometime I feel people working on the blog use a random release date generator when they publish this post lol
