@GigaBowser007: The same way I don’t get non UK people playing FFVII as it’s not available on their Playstation Network.
The French users don’t have FFVII at all: neither in French nor English.

Hi SCEE,
If you look at Threespeech’s archives you’ll see I’ve been less than complimentary about you in the past.
I wanted to post on here after hearing via TheSixthAxis the roasting your getting for not doing the impossible and maintaining the amount of content we’ve been treated to for the last few weeks.
Shame on you for not getting E3 extended and conjuring new games out of thin air for us to have demos for each week. How can you look at yourselves in the mirror???
Seriously, when this old whiner comes on here to say I’m happy with how things have been going for some time now (i.e. my US visa card has not been used on the US store for a while now) then your doing something right!
And thank you for the EU blog, it was sometime coming but such a massive improvement from the past.
Credit where credit is due and please remember among all the crap posted here someone likes you!

@Pavlov
I think it’s a question of licensing. e.g. if EA has the rights to publish a game in the US, they may not necessarily own the rights to publish in the EU.
Say for arguments sake that Ubisoft held the rights to publish the same game in Europe, Ubisoft might be a bit annoyed that people were buying the EA ‘version’ in Europe.
There would probably be all kinds of legal wranglings with that one – even if Ubisoft had no intention of bringing out the game in Europe.

Where is Vidzone available right now Mr. Kebby? Just the UK? Thank’s in advance.

Posted on 18 June, 2009 at 4:54 pm by pabloamigo
continuing from my last post…you also have the fact that content released in the US has been rated for release in the US, whereas in Europe there are loads of different ratings bodies to pass through if you want to release in all EU countries.

Well, not a very good update, but It’s ok, last updates has been quite good, and this year we got a lot of content (comparing with past year, when we linked easily several crappy update weeks).
And… my question.
Vidzone videos will be updated in a weekly basis (or similar)? And the program? I’m sure that you received enough feedback about the interface and searching speed problems.

Hey mike shogun again, i was going to lambast about the update but i’ve been beaten to it, i must admit it is rather woeful one of the worst we have had.
All i’m going to say is, of all the content i have more than cried for myself on the forums for MONTHS like suikoden, and what others have cried for, why isn’t it actually put on a priorty list ands why has none of it shown up.
in the case of comet crash, what kind of localisation can a tower defense game need when its already in perfectly fine english and theres hardly any text in it at all.
I swear SCEE delay things on purpose just to annoy us.

Why do games developers *cough Santa Monica cough* not give us any incling with regards to price or release. Were the customer and we shouldn’t have to save our PSN funds incase Fat Princess costs more than we expect.

My wallet could use a break so I don’t really mind the lack of content this week.
That said, where is the LBP costume Mm posted about yesterday?
Also, more importantly, I’m very dissappointed that Rock Band Unplugged wasn’t put on the store because a digital copy of that game is what I wanted due to worry’s about the system moving around too much during play and possibly causing damage to the UMD or UMD drive.
Plus the fact that it’s suppost to be all about digital now with the go. I’m pretty much being forced to buy it now if theres no goodwill scheme to get digital versions of UMDs for older PSP systems, which I doubt there will be. And I want digital versions of Patapon 2, Resistance retribution and RB unplugged.

@Galaxian
I’m fairly sure I’ve seen one of the blog contributors mention a UMD goodwill scheme (may have been in the PSPGo Q&A last week). He couldn’t give out any details though.

I thought after the E3 situation will change…
I still feel like third world gamer.
Why, we in Europe always get something delayed or never get it?
Maybe I’m little rude, but I just want stop waiting and praying.
I appreciate creating that blog, and what You do for us, but waitning just make people angry. Specially when you wait for your favorite game…MGS.
P.S Sorry for my english.

Posted on 18 June, 2009 at 5:05 pm by pabloamigo
@Galaxian
from the aforementioned post:
“theTMO / pavianexodus: Will it be possible to transfer my UMD games to the new PSPgo?
We know that there are many of you excited about PSPgo but are hesitant at leaving your UMD games collection behind. We recognize this and as such we are planning a goodwill programme and will unveil more details soon.”

Are you being serious!! Thats’s it. I think this can go down in history as the worst psn update ever! I came on here to check whether i had actually recieved the whole update and not just part of it. Why did you even bother with us this week sony, seriously, you shouldn’t have bothered.

Posted on 18 June, 2009 at 5:07 pm by ashstampede
“The submission process for all stores is separate, therefore there will be differences in release dates, as each region has it’s own QA process. There are many additional things that need to be checked for content appearing in the EU which is why content does seem to be delayed in appearing on the US store and then coming to the EU. This has been improving since we first launched the store, but I appreciate that as consumers you don’t want to know the reason why, you just want to see the content on the store. I’m sure we wil keep seeing such discrepancies reduce, but until that happens, please keep giving me your feedback”
I know this is page eight so doubt a response is coming but was this issue of multiple region Q&A was a whisper of one submission process ala Microsoft in the works/talks for Sony submissions?

@pabloamigo
Yeah the licensing issues and publishing rights seem to be the standard mantra that gets throw around when someone asks about this, but look at the steam or direc2drive digital distribution platforms there is very hard to find content differences between games offered to eu or us customers. As for ratings they should just use the standard PRODUCT NOT RATED advisory text.

Posted on 18 June, 2009 at 5:10 pm by Alicomb
For those who are looking for FFVII and RE on the French store do what I did and buy a PSN card from the US, and get the games from the US store.
IF SCEE can’t get there issues sorted then my money will go elsewhere. As for this weeks store update, lets be fair here if should money milking updates to Rock Band and Guitar really need to be classed as store updates, I mean come on if anything there padding to give the impression you have something to give when in actual fact you have nothing.
SCEE get your act together.

Yeah you are probably right mate – I am no authority on publishing issues, really just reiterating what I hear & see about content licensing in general.

OMG where the hell is Final Fantasy VII??!!

@je_suis_mort, if you bothered to read the responses Mike has already given over the previous 7 pages you would know where it is. Asking again doesn’t make it come any quicker, it just makes Mike less likely to continue reading past the first 2 pages in future like the responses on the US Blog…

Posted on 18 June, 2009 at 5:40 pm by KarmaDim
Dear Mike,
Instead of avoiding the burning issues, you should communicate on the FF7 french release. What’s going on ? Guess what, i’m working on a QA & Support team, and i’m familiar with that kind of issue. If the problem is significant, just tell us. Don’t let the people like this.
Frustration now really turns into BIG deception now…

I already have KarmaDim, I posted an update a few pages back. Thanks

what happned to all the film trailers that used to come out in the early psn updates? when it’s a small update you could put a few of them on there to promote blu ray a bit mord. That would be a welcome addition SCEE plz

But I keep seeing that the visitors of this blog can’t read or want to read the comments and replies of you. 8 pages of comments and half of it is double questions witch are allready replied.
I hope you can still find the time to do other stuff

Umm i dont mean to be rude mike but the americans get tons before us (not complaint) so when we have 1 game (fat princess) out before them we have a 100 DAY DELAY ON IT (inless its before american release date)i mean loads of games delayed for us but the americans get theres 1st or 2nd (japan) so this one game wasnt too much was it?
Sorry I just felt like going a bit mental

This will be my last comment tonight, as I have to crack on with some work (I’ve fallen a bit behind with all this commenting), but I’ve seen quite a few comments asking questions I have already answered. Please, I know there are a lot of comments on the blog, but you can see when I’ve posted as the responses are bold like this one
If you have a question please skim through the comment pages looking for my replies and I’m sure I will have answered most of your queries, or at least alluded to the topic.
Have a good evening, and a good week all, see you next week

I have seen your comments mike but are you still going to charge £9.99 for metal gear solid with a wrong release date???. or put into account that so many people wanted it and thay had disappointed faces when thay logged on to playstation store, would you consider a price reduction?????????.

Posted on 18 June, 2009 at 6:24 pm by YamiAlastor
So what is it about the submission process that stops us getting games from the US store at all then, like Castlevania or any PS1 classic the US store has had since the PS3 launched that we still haven’t got or will get.
Yet you managed to get FFVII so fast (and thanks for that).
Sorry, but I find it hard to believe that the paltry offerings we get in the EU store is purely down to licensing and the submission process. :/

M$ can do it, so why can’t Sony?

Posted on 18 June, 2009 at 6:31 pm by Ipswich772
I know it’s not your fault blah blah blah, but when a BIG game like Fat Princess is coming out, you’d think Sony would be able to give us a date that’s correct. Really made my day even worse =[ This was going to be my weekend game

Posted on 18 June, 2009 at 6:34 pm by freakzilla149
@390
Totally agree, I think it might one of those things Sony does, like adding life with playstation instead improving online by adding stuff like cross-game chat, and doing dumb experiments like HOME, money which could have used to employ a few more staff at SCEE.
396
Posted on 18 June, 2009 at 6:45 pm by Komond_Deckard
It’s a bit dissapointment as everyone said, and the worst part is that we keep watching USA receiving better content always, our store is not like that one. At least, Sony could upload hundreds of PSX games, already made (easy money) and nothing. Even releasing 5 PSX games a week it will take more than 100-150 weeks to have them all, and sometimes one game… sometimes no game…
Europe is not a place where PS3 is not selling good, but we keep being the last to receive everything, and that, if we receive. Every single comment here may represent just a bit of the total money SCEE are losing in Europe.
And by the way, I hope in the future you will give the Europe Store a better organization, just copy&paste the USA one, it’s pretty well done.
Mike Kebby, I’m sorry but now you are the best option for us to comunicate SCEE what we want and need, and the only thing we can do is to write comments and comments… By now at least, I’m glad to know you read them, sure that’s more that most of the people would do in your place

@ Tom_York – Well this update sucks big time, no doubt about that, but it’s not fair to say it usual.
//WhiteWolf
P.S. Another thing I was wondering about – know that it’s proberly not at your desk, but could someone from SONY make an official statement about gamesharing – legal or not, because if you read the EULA there are som indications that’s ruling it illegal.
