Updated: ‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (3rd September 2009)

As I mentioned in last week’s update, I’m not actually here this week, so this is being posted in my absence and I won’t be around to monitor the comments this week.

There’s another varied batch of content this week, with an updated demo for Fight Night Round 4 available (now you can try the punch button layout, rather than the sticks), all the Disgaea 3 additional content has been collected into one monstrous collection, and we also have extra content available for F.E.A.R.2, Pain and High Velocity Bowling. We also have the third Buzz! Junior title available on the store for those who are looking for something for all the family to enjoy.

PSP owners can look forward to Fate/Unlimited Codes and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, as well as the demo for the upcoming Holy Invasion Of Privacy Badman!, and the first pack available for Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero?

I’ll be back as usual next week, so for any burning questions I’d leave them for next week’s comments section. Have a good week all.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, SCEE QA issues have resulted in Fate/Unlimited Codes being pushed back to next Thursday, September 3rd. Apologies for the inconvenience.

How long we will still have to wait before he finally came out on European PSN ?

Harlequiine 3 September, 2009 @ 11:11 am   8

So.. one ‘premium’ theme for a decent PSN game, and no avatars? Wow. That’s pretty poor. I hope we get more next week.

Oh and get ready for some ‘wheres this, wheres that, when does this come out? This is a poor update’ comments when you come back Mike. (:

Nothing for me this time. :’( *cry* *cry*

£1.19 isn’t too bad for a premium theme. Seeing as I have a few quid left in my account I’ll probably grab it.

Hope to see some more available soon! And avatars. :P

Callofduty1 3 September, 2009 @ 11:15 am   11

MIKE where is the psone classic games can you please tell me what is SCEE playing at? dont you think we have weited long enough now ? ive got the usa ones like suikoden castlevania and so on but not everyone has gone to the trouble like me of havin a usa account there was 3 psone games in last weeks usa store update its just not on mike and you know it

Scubapro88 3 September, 2009 @ 11:15 am   12

I’m not going to lie, there is very little here, but we cant really blame you guys i suppose.

Cheers for the good work anyways

Hey Mike,
I hoped for dynamic Themes an Premium Avatares!
Can you reveal when they will be released ?

Shadow-King 3 September, 2009 @ 11:16 am   14

hmmmm…..come on guys, one premium theme(which i dont want), no avatars, no free animated themes or game content im likely to buy.

im sure u guys loved the reaction to 3.0 announcement etc….however ur not really allowing eu(one or ur biggest earners according to figures @ gamescom) to use these features……….this week i must say im disappointed

Sigh

Another cheap week for me. I wont be buying anything.

Come on guys, where the hell is Bomberman Ultra?

And MGS.

Europe is a better territory for the PS3 than America, so why are we still being treated as second class to them?

Especially with regards to PSN, but of course, today we found out that EU wont be getting the God of War collection this year.

Come on, stop treating us like this.

I know you probably wont respond to this comment Mike seeing as it’s too long, but come on dude, get them to sort it out!

Killa_Cobra_ST 3 September, 2009 @ 11:17 am   16

No dynamic themes, thats a shame! Oh well!

WHAT? WHERE IS LBP THEME? I guess LBP has been made in EUROPE so why we’re the only one who can’t buy it? :/ This time I’m gonna spend my money in the US Store :///

@10, i know, on the UK PS forums, they were expecting £2 but hoping for £1

Still waiting for TRINE and pixeljunk: shooter, any news? Why no comment to those 700 comments(mostly complaints and rightfully so) on firmware 3.0?
Where’s the love for ths PSone classics as well (I’ve kinda given up on this one)?

I’ll keeping an eye out for the Flower, flOw, LocoRoco and PAIN dynamic themes.
What are the chances of that happening, eh?

“I’ll be back as usual next week, so for any burning questions I’d leave them for next week’s comments section. Have a good week all.”

What is the point of that? If people have burning questions it makes sense to answer them when the post is made.

Also, Sony release the Slim, there are going to be a lot of new owners. Would it have hurt to offer one free dynamic theme as a sample/welcome/thankyou? Your marketing department is crap.

is the fifa 10 demo coming next week?

billyboy1000 3 September, 2009 @ 11:19 am   23

Where is the afrika dynamic theme and lbp or GT5 – this is a joke. Everyother region has something to show off the new firmware features.

Bilbo_bobbins 3 September, 2009 @ 11:20 am   24

well isn’t that the worst update I have ever seen? Where is our free Dynamic theme SCEE? Absolute joke Sony can’t be bothered with Europe once again. Plus, fix the firmware please :)

I was predicting having nothing to interest me in this update and I was right! Interesting to see EA are republishing the demo of Fight Night, obviously people didn’t like the new Skate-style control scheme – I certainly didn’t! I don’t think I’ll bother redownloading it though.

Since Burn Zombie Burn is (AFAIK) Europe’s first ever premium theme does that mean it’s a dynamic one? I must say I’m disappointed that SCEE haven’t supported this more since it was one of the only good elements of FW 3.0, same with avatars. Why is SCEE always behind the times? With a feature like this I would have expected 5 or 6 dynamic themes to launch with it on the same day (at least the other regions managed 1).

Also, I know you have exchange rates to work to but seriously, £1.19? Would it have killed you to eat the extra 20p and release it at 99p? It baffles me why SCEE’s marketing suits don’t wake up to the fact that there are certain ‘magic’ price points that would greatly increase sales… £9.99 Fat Princess for example.

Oh and don’t even get me started on the fact SCEE fell asleep and let the God of War Collection pass them by!!!

For the first time in forever, I must say, this was an encouraging update! We actually got a movie trailer! It ma just be one trailer for a rubbish film, but at least we got a movie trailer! Keep up the good work. Also good tosee more Dissidia themes – actually more I think than the offcial Japanese website provides.

Another fail update for EU! No excuses for the LBP animated theme that we missed out on.

Jkkfreelance 3 September, 2009 @ 11:22 am   28

Seriously? Come on Sony…You do a huge update promising animated themes and premium avatars and don’t even release them on the next store update? Sort in out please!

thenextbutton 3 September, 2009 @ 11:23 am   29

slow week for the PSN.

Still was hoping for super bomberman.

oh yeah dynamic themes!?

is the premium theme a dynamic theme?

FallingStickman 3 September, 2009 @ 11:23 am   31

Another lousy update. Nothing more to add.

A poor update, good job mike is on holiday he doesn’t have to deal with it. And @15, where did you hear about the GOW pack? I live for those games so this is basically the final nail in SCEE’s coffin for the year.

My God!

If they cite Regionlisation for the delay in getting the LBP Theme to us……..:(

Bad form. Every other region but us.

@25 It isn’t the EU store’s first premium theme. They’ve been around for ages.

I very much doubt it’s dynamic though.

Sony could have made a killing with a load of dynamic themes, and also if they had launched the movie store this week instead of October.

It would have made sense considering their ‘entertainment hub’ advertising at the moment.

aaaargh no LBP theme! no PS1 classics, no word on firmware fixes. How slack. Sucks to be under SCEE territory, again.

Dutch_Rootsman 3 September, 2009 @ 11:27 am   36

Dear Mike,

PSone games please!!!

Another mediocre update :(

Regards,

Dutch

hi,

Is there a way to know in the future when a Theme is dynamic and when not?.

maybe you could mark it as dynamic with some short os symbol.
.

Thank you.

US got LBP theme
Japan got Afrika theme (Free!!!)

Why does Europe keep getting treated like a red-headed step-child?

@32 News on the God of War pack is over at Sixthaxis.
I first got wind from vg247.com.

dodo667418 3 September, 2009 @ 11:29 am   40

Oh too bad the NFS Shift Demo is in the update.
Do you know something about the release Mike?

When will we be getting Dissidia on the PlayStation Store? I don’t want to get the UMD version because I might be getting a PSPGo later in the year, so I don’t really want to be buying the game twice!

Guillemots 3 September, 2009 @ 11:29 am   42

Nothing interesting for me this week.
Patience :)

zooloomuzik 3 September, 2009 @ 11:30 am   43

yawn … roll on next week.

dodo667418 3 September, 2009 @ 11:30 am   44

damn I forgot the “not” :D @40

Oh too bad the NFS Shift Demo is NOT in the update.
Do you know something about the release Mike?

The_Performer 3 September, 2009 @ 11:30 am   45

wen r psn cards coming out?

slayerking69 3 September, 2009 @ 11:31 am   46

I agree with post #11 where are the classics? We shouldn’t have to make accounts on different countries stores just to get decent content, We pay more for our PS3′s we pay more for everything sony and we get nothing in return. Why should anyone in the European zone buy a PSPGo with the store that we get?

Crap update is crap. Extremly disapointing.

Still no Zombie Apocalypse & Trine. Its as if the monkeys at SCEE don’t want any money. I wish Australia didn’t fall under SCEE.

Sk8erniall 3 September, 2009 @ 11:34 am   48

pretty rubbush update as usual for eu….

why dont we even get LBP theme? i mean come on!

I hope burn zombie theme is dynamic.(plz with a preview)

Every other region got a dynamic theme the day firmware 3.0 came out and we might get one 1,5 week after. That shows a lot about SCEE.Don’t you think?
