‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (12th November 2009)

So I bet most of you have been playing Modern Warfare 2 this week, and in relation to this (just in case any of you missed it) we added the original Call of Duty: Classic to the PS Store on Tuesday evening (given a fresh lick of paint and with online 8 player multiplayer).

For the rest of the update this week, we have a varied offering, taking in a new bundle for Burnout Paradise, a new quiz pack for Buzz!, Fat Princess makes an appearance in PAIN and there is also additional content for Rag Doll Kung Fu, EyePet, Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

PSP users get three new games, three new minis, and the demo for Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier.

I know lately we’ve had a bit of a lull in the updates, and whilst they may not have been massive, we have been adding steadily to the store (for you PSP users especially), but next week, there should be a nice stream of content released, and I’m hopeful that some of you will be pleased once you see what’s coming :).

There will always be dips in the release schedule, that’s just the way it goes at times, but we always come out the other side smiling don’t we? Seriously though, we’ll be doing our best to make sure these lulls become less and less frequent, because we do want our community to be happy smiley folk after all!

Anyway, as usual leave your comments below and I’ll do my best to trawl through them. I may not respond directly, but I am reading and taking note, promise.

Do you have any details on removing the advertising in-game from wipeout? it’s driving everyone away from the game?

“So I bet most of you have been playing Modern Warfare 2 this week”
Nah still addicted to Uncharted 2.. :D

Looks okay this week. Next week looks interesting.

I guess FF VIII will be next week as they would announce it tomorrow with the FF XIII stuff.

Hey, I thought it was Disgaea today :S

http://twitter.com/NISAinEurope/status/5368043193

Oh well. Suggestion for next time Mike, maybe a FAQ in the main post? You know, answering questions like, where are PS1 games xyz, where is game z, when is patch p coming out? It’ll hopefully stop people actually posting the same questions again and again!

Oh, and before anyone asks, Vagrant Story was not meant for release today. Square-Enix made a mistake and sent a corrected newsletter with a “coming soon” date. It wasn’t Mike’s fault!

Now, back to normal…

Where is my OFP:DR DLC pack??
Lousy week, only Eyepet DLC for me..

Well just do what you gotta do, i think the only reason people rage so much is because they see what the american store gets in comparison to the european stores but in all honesty ive bought more off the psn then i ever got off xbox live so you must be doing somthing right. I think i should focus my attention elswhere lol.

ooh i heard rumours about the euro store getting vagrant story, any truth to this?

We need more classics. Another bad update noting for me again.

V00D00CHARL1E 12 November, 2009 @ 12:09 pm   8

What happened to the Eyepet Lucky Dip Styling Pack 3….. erm not that I play it ;)

1 and 2 have been released, plus cowboys and nurses (ooh er missus) then straight to 4….

Any ideas?

I’m still waiting for a Burnout Paradise DLC bundle ;)

Sorry with regard to the Fallout 3 DLC, does that mean a price drop? (price only in euros atm)

Not an awful update, to be honest I have yet to see one that didn’t have at least something I wanted.

If next weeks update is going to be good then luckily for me I just got a 500GB hard drive to store it all.

Slighty off topic :

Any word on the release date of the video store in the EU yet ?

&

Will we ever see some of the videos (interviews etc..) from the blog make their way to the PSstore or at least the XMB.

PSone Classics

Cool Boarders 2 (COME ON ITS FIRST PARTY)

Tomb Raider 1,2,3

Deadpool_NL 12 November, 2009 @ 12:09 pm   13

SlapnutzUK 12 November, 2009 @ 12:10 pm   14

Where’s the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 DLC?

Still can’t play with my friends in the USA as we don’t even have the FREE friggin patch let alone the premium content GRRRRR!!!!

Hi Mike! Remember me? Since Dissidia is out in USA and Asia, when will it come out in Europe? Any news on it?
Please answer, thanks (PSPgo owner)

and a Fallout 3 DLC bundle :P

divine1000 12 November, 2009 @ 12:10 pm   17

PSP themes?

Thanks for being such a champ about the rabid ppl on here at times mike. I know some ppl can get really nasty, but we all do mean well in the end. I think it’s always a bit of why isn’t this released to us, not so much that we have small updates, generally even the small updates i myself always find something, even if it’s just a trailer or demo im still cool with that for a weekly dose. Afterall, my wallet doesn’t have infinite lives lol.

I’m in the minority i guess but i don’t have modern warfare 2, been too busy with my psp making some beats on beaterator, killing monster’s and getting my car [DELETED] in with gran turismo.

This week we delve behind the scenes at Sony to meet the people who make the DLC happen. This week we get to know our very own Mike Kebby.

PSN Profile #1

Name: Mike Kebby

Age: Fri-Wed I feel 20. Thursdays start at 20 and gradually increase to 67

Occupation: Store content manager, punch bag, general blogsbody

Pastimes: Boxing, Surfing, Deathclaw Cosplay.

Achievements: “They’re not Achievements they’re Trophies”.

Trophies: BSc* from LMU (*Bronze Surfing Certificate)

Life goal: To be World Middleweight champion and to appear as a Deathclaw in the film version of Fallout 3.

;)

I’m guessing next week might see Final Fantasy 8 and Braid?

once again mike i have to ask any news on ff8?

will next week include at least a ps1 classic we all keep moaning for ff8 or metal gear solid?

or is it vagrant story since the square enix news letter said that was coming soon?

or is it dissidia since that was added last week to the us store?

TrevDaRev321 12 November, 2009 @ 12:11 pm   22

@ ENGCLM

I heard the Video store is going live November 18th, which is next Wednesday.

I too will be getting a 500Gb HDD for all them HD Movies.. :D

commuterzombie 12 November, 2009 @ 12:11 pm   23

“but next week, there should be a nice stream of content released, and I’m hopeful that some of you will be pleased once you see what’s coming :)”

So Video store confirmed for next week then? ;p

Was hoping for new PSN games,
like #2, back to Uncharted 2 it is :)

Not trying to be a [DELETED] here, just an honest question.
Should the Dutch be expecting to see the Fallout 3 DLC appear today?

nightcobra 12 November, 2009 @ 12:12 pm   26

wait, is the fallout dlc really just for ******* spain this week? what about portugal and other countries who use the same version as the UK version, shouldn’t it have been quicker for our countries? but noooo, first the french version now the spanish version, what’s next the italian version? i mean come on

twistedintoform 12 November, 2009 @ 12:12 pm   27

“So I bet most of you have been playing Modern Warfare 2 this week”

no.. IW/activision made a complete shambles of the release. and from what i did manage to play, it’s CoD4 with a coat of paint. i wasn’t overly impressed to be honest. oh well, can’t argue with the supermarket price. :P

Could you please ask around for any details to get into the BFBC 2 beta on 19th November?

Where is Disgaea as promised by NIS?

can you update the Australian store at a respectable time on a Thursday night please

Hi Mike.

Dissidia coming to EU soon? (dissapointed PSPGo owner:()

TrevDaRev321 12 November, 2009 @ 12:15 pm   32

Mike used to box? Cool did you watch the Haye Vs Valuev fight?

Got to be Resident Evil hasnt it? FF8 would be well well received, very underrated on the ps1, be good to play again. As long as its not another [DELETED] disney game im happy!

Suggestions:

Please add the file size for each game in the store update blogs like SCEA.

Please add file sizes feature when scrolling over games in the PSP psn store like in the SCEA store.

VictorAnalogy 12 November, 2009 @ 12:15 pm   35

Vagrant Story and Video Store next week? Go on, spill it! :P

“I heard the Video store is going live November 18th, which is next Wednesday.”

@ TrevDaRev321

Thanks for the info, still hopefull an official date will be revealed soon. If that is true I cannot wait, was not going to get an improved hard drive until the video store was released but having purchase about 20 PS3 titles in a month I sort of have no space left (80GB).

Again thanks for your info….

Hi Mike-I enjoy reading your blog every Thursday, if only to laugh at the [DELETED] about lack of PS classics! Could you tell us is there any plans for DLC in the works for the following:

1. Batman Arkham Asylum.

2. Uncharted 2.

3. Modern Warfare 2.

It would make Christmas if we had DLC for some/all of these by December 24th!

Glad Fallout 3 DLC has dropped in price, but it still makes more sense financially to buy the Game of the Year Edition! Sorry.

i_just_lold 12 November, 2009 @ 12:16 pm   38

Another useless update. =)

The vidstore is not on the 18th. VG247 got it wrong.

twistedintoform 12 November, 2009 @ 12:16 pm   40

btw: CoD classic wasn’t on the US store yet that i could see, so it’s not necessarily always greener on the other side. ;) also, nice touch to put the locale availability on the update.

Oh and forgot to say – well diverted away from this weeks “update”. By saying next week will be good it means no one will be talking about a fat princess in pain…. :)

AcidCrashX 12 November, 2009 @ 12:18 pm   42

MORNING MIKEFACE! ^_^

hope you’re enjoying borderlands! as you assumed, i have been playing MW2 and enjoying it so far (about half way through on vet) firs time playing a COD game on PS3 and I’m impressed by its frame-rate which seems to stay at 60 most of the time.

good bit of content today, Spongebob on Rock Band shocked me a bit but the release of SFA3 and Mana Khemia: Student Alliance on PSP will make me and the Mrs happy.

have a great weekend playing borderlands mate.

PS. if you want more ppl to join your twitter so you can beat Jem, you may wanna post more often ;)

SCEE, how come Ghostbusters is priced so high in euros? A normal and fair exchange rate would make the game 18,95 € instead of 26.99. Mike usually says that SCEE is not to blame for skewing exchange rates — it’s up to the publishers. Well, in this case SCEE *is* the publisher (and this is far from being the only example).

Fair play, please.

Ugh, when are we supposed to get new avatars for PSN?

AcidCrashX 12 November, 2009 @ 12:19 pm   45

@24 Disgaea got pushed. follow their twitter

Hi Mike,

Hope you’ve got over your “man flu” from last week ;)

Couple of questions that i hope you are able to shed some light on:

1) Is there a reason that the Store no longer receives trailers (be it Cinema releases and Blu Ray)? Seeing as Sony champion the format, and being a film company, I thought they would have advertised things like this more???

2) I realise that we don’t always get PS1 classics the same time, if at all :( ,as the US do (citing localization issues), but I read on the US blog last week that they received Tekken 6 wallpapers. Surely, wallpapers don’t need localizing do they?!?

Cheerz :)

TrevDaRev321 12 November, 2009 @ 12:20 pm   47

@ ENGCLM

No problem, Yes same here I was going to wait until the video store launched but I have been getting a steady amount of Ps3 games latley & I really need it (8Gb of 60Gb Launch Model left) It will also come in very handy for PlayTV aswell.

@Darkos87: Info on BFBC2 beta here http://badcompany2.ea.com/#/beta also possible to sign up for a chance in the beta.

Are there any plans on releasing the PSP titles “World Snooker Challenge 2007″, “Outrun” and “Ridge racer 2″ to the PSN store?

Pigoldino91 12 November, 2009 @ 12:21 pm   50
