Hey everyone,
The PlayStation.Blog EU is now closed for Christmas! We’ve got some messages of goodwill from various developers around the world coming up next week, but other than that things will be pretty quiet around here.
I did, however, want to take this festive opportunity to thank you all for your support over the last six months. I feel that the European Blog has grown and improved tremendously since we started back in May – and you’ve been a key part of that. I’ve created a short list of highlights which demonstrate just some of the milestones we’ve hit over the last six months:
- Welcome – You’ve Been Waiting – Our launch post! Way back on the 28th of May, just a few days before E3 kicked off.
- Live from gamescom: SCEE Press Conference – The gamescom 2009 press conference saw the unveiling of some exciting stuff, like the redesigned PS3, the Video Download Service, PSP minis and the Digital Comics service. All of which are now live and available.
- UNCHARTED 2: gamescom’s Best Console Game – UNCHARTED 2 was crowned the best console game of gamescom 2009. Just one of the many awards the game received over the last six months.
- We’re Going To TGS – Tokyo Game Show 2009 was a landmark trade show for the Blog. The US Blog’s Jeff Rubenstein and I worked together to bring content from Japan to both US and European audiences simultaneously. It worked so well, you can definitely expect to see more of this at future trade shows.
But it doesn’t end there. As we move into 2010 – and a new decade – you can expect more content from more third party publishers, more announcements and more events coverage. You’ve seen my personal pick of the highlights from 2009, but I’m intrigued to find out what yours might be. Let us know in the comments section and, while you’re there, be sure to give us your feedback on the last six months as well as the sort of content you want to see more of in 2010.
Thanks again for reading the PlayStation.Blog EU! Your passion for PlayStation is what keeps it going and we value every single one of you.
Have a happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Here’s to a great 2010!

Highlights on the blog are here almost every day! With all the information on various games and events.
Therefore the only suggestion I can make is: please make new posts on the blog in the weekends more often.
And naturally:
Happy Christmas and an awesome new year!

More weekend posts? We’ll have to see how full our weekdays get first!

Well done to everyone for all their hard work on the blog and related areas.
A couple of things I would personally like to see improve in the following year are :
Extended feedback for firmware update posts including possible posts asking for user input/feedback?
More support for community features/events like the recent post from MusterBuster about Yasters Killzone Marathon
Exclusive announcement posts from developers concerning upcoming games and content.
Not much to improve but enough to keep you occupied for the next year
Again well done all and have a good Christmas break

Have you been rifling through my notebook? These are all things you’ll see more of throughout 2010.
Thanks for the kind words — and a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you!

Where do I start? The past 6 months with PlayStation.Blog EU have been fantastic. I’ve always enjoyed coming here to find out the latest PlayStation related news and updates. Among all of the fantastic stuff this site has brought, I think my favourite is where you’d bring in people from different companies to post directly onto the site to talk about their games. It seems more like they’re talking to the community rather than talking to a journalist. Fantastic stuff.
The main thing I want to see in 2010 is to have EU’s PlayStation.Blog updates posted directly onto the Playstation 3′s XMB. I want to see the ‘What’s New’ section turn into it’s own ‘News’ column and for Playstation.Blog EU posts to be posted on their along with being posted on the website. I know I can use the PS3′s browser but I think this would be a much more integrated experience and well received by the PlayStation community.
Thanks for the great work guys. Merry Christmas to everyone working at PlayStation.Blog EU and to everyone in the PlayStation community. Hope you all have a happy new year.
Posted on 24 December, 2009 at 11:08 pm by Jem Alexander
You’re too kind. Thanks so much for your feedback! Getting 3rd party publishers onto the Blog to talk to you guys is something I consider to be incredibly important. Hopefully you’ve seen an increase in this over the last half year. More will be coming in 2010, too.
At the moment the What’s New screen is updated once a week on Thursdays, though we’re looking into shortening the update process and adding content multiple times a week. Though, this won’t be happening for a while, if at all.
We do have some links through to the Blog from the What’s New screen already, based on the biggest stories of the week or particular games I’m eager to get more coverage. Would you really want to see every post given its own channel on the What’s New screen? That might be slightly overkill!

Happy Holidays to all at SCEE, fellow readers of, and especially the community team, responsible for the blog! I really enjoy the improved atmosphere that you’ve introduced, compared to the way it was before. Thanks for all the work and interaction you’ve contributed, and see you for loads more posts, chat, and info, in 2010

Happy Holidays everyone! It was a great blog year and thank you for all your hard work.
One wish for improvement for 2010:
I hope we get more life immages from the E3, gamecon, etc next year. Coverage was mostly to late this year and I went to other sites that had it better organized.
Posted on 24 December, 2009 at 11:21 pm by Jem Alexander
Thanks very much!
I think our live coverage of gamescom was pretty good, personally. Particularly our liveblog of the press conference. We like to keep some video content back for the week or two after a big event which is more community based — things like developers responding directly to your questions from the comments.
We’re always looking to improve our events coverage, though, so I’ll keep this in mind!

I think 2010′s going to be a great year for gamers! Just look at the first three months of the year — already full to bursting with incredible games. You’ll have barely had time to digest your turkey before they start coming out.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to everyone at SCEE!!!
Shall be tipping a LOT of my christmas money into the PS Store
Thank you for the phenomenal blog, we all love you!
As for next year, how about you guys try to keep us a bit more in the loop? Yes, you do post semi-regularly, but some more news that we REALLY want would be fantastic
My top 3?
1) When will the premium PSN be launching?
2) When are more avatars coming?
3) Shall Europe ever receive photo frames for Home?
Looking forward to another fantastic year for SCEE and SONY on the whole!
MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS!!!!!
Posted on 24 December, 2009 at 11:28 pm by Jem Alexander
You can bet that as soon as I hear anything on those three things, you’ll see something posted up here on the Blog. I’m here to get you guys the information you desire — but I can only do so when it’s ready to be announced publicly, so you’ll need to be patient for some stuff.
Have a Merry Christmas.

Yeah, it’s pretty awesome. Looks very pretty sitting under my TV with its white Dualshock 3!
Shame I know very little Japanese — I keep playing the first 20 minutes of the game, just to see the intro (and the baby Chocobo that lives in Sahz’s hair! Genius!). After that, it’s back in its box until March. Or until the next time I want to play the intro, whichever comes first…
Happy Holidays to you, too!

Merry X-Mas SCEE!
It’s been a good year for PlayStation.
Good job guys, but next year don’t ignore an awesome game like Demon’s Souls, this was such a bad mistake from SCEE, you guys should be punished for this.
Anyhow, except for that BIG mistake, you’ve done a great job!

You’ve done really well this far. There’s not much room for improvement, just keep going the way you do.
Happy holidays and all that…
As for accessing the blog from the PS3, I must say I agree with some of the posts here. It really should be easily accessible. Same for the forums and every other internet resource Sony has conjured up. A proper RSS reader, and access to bookmarks from the XMB would be a great start. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that those things would be awesome.
