Greetings one and all and welcome to another PlayStation Store ‘Heads Up’.
Mike is up against it this week and has kindly let me out of my cage long enough to bring news of the latest Store update – I’m only too happy to oblige.
So what’s on the cards this week?
Well, quite apart from the new set of amazing Special Offers, (Critter Crunch for €2.99/£2.39 is just one of the deals too good to pass up) if you ever owned a MegaDrive or SNES then the chances are you might remember ‘Rocket Knight Adventures’ or its sequel ‘Sparkster’. If you do, or even if you don’t you’re in for a treat because this week Konami brings us ‘Rocket Knight‘ – the sequel to these two 16-Bit gems. Armed with a whacking great sword and his trademark rocket pack, you’ll take to the skies to defend the world of Elhorn from all comers. Best of all, if you’re still on the fence you can try it out before you grab the full game.
We’ve also been blessed with ‘Catan’- a digital version of the German board game, ‘The Settlers of Catan’ for you all to enjoy. It’ll take a mixture of strategy, luck and negotiation to come out on top and it’s addictive enough that I’ve been playing it all week. So get out there and establish those colonies! Establish them!
You’re spoiled for DLC this month as awesome titles become even more awesome. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 gets its first premium DLC in the form of the SpecAct packs – camouflaged weapons and outfits for every class to give you the edge on the battlefield. Ignore them at your peril, because when you’re out setting charges on the M-Com stations, I’ll be the invisible one in the long grass ready to attach C4 to the back of your head when you’re not looking.
BioShock 2 expands further with three new multiplayer packs to draw you back into the underwater world of Rapture, LittleBigPlanet gets zoological with the ‘More Animals!’ costumes and we’ve got a whole new chapter with unlockable loot for Square-Enix’s action-RPG, Nier.
Admittedly it’s a quiet week for PSP, but to tide you over until ModNation Racers next week there’s never been a better time to pick up Buzz! Quiz World or LittleBigPlanet as we release even more downloadable content for these two brilliant titles.
I’d love to tell you more about the three new Skate 3 packs, the new Shoryuken costumes for Super Street Fighter IV, the Domination Pack for DJ Hero and all the rest, but you’ll have to go check the list for yourself. I just haven’t got the time… I’ve got colonies that need establishing!
Later guys, I’ll be around to reply to comments in a little while.

Sorry rabiuddin, but Gabe and Tycho have said that they’re not going to make them – they’ve apparently moved on to other projects. Sad face indeed.

Posted on 12 May, 2010 at 2:45 pm by Ross McGrath
Well, Capcom have re-released the demos for Dark Void and MotoGP 09/10, so those are back up. You won’t find them in Latest but they’re back in their relevant sections for the time being.

@ KAP
If someone is claiming that this is a great update, thats because there is something they want. Just because you don’t think it is, doesn’t mean no one else does.
GREAT UPDATE.

Also, if you don’t buy critter crunch at THAT price, you officially have no soul. Buy it, its one of the best puzzle games of last year!

It’s being sorted at the moment – sorry if it’s messing with your eyes!

And Williams Pinball still not on PSN
.

Ross comes kickass also to the Netherlands (Dutch) store
and also do you know when konami’s assualt heroes comes to the eu store
Posted on 12 May, 2010 at 3:03 pm by Ross McGrath
I’m pretty sure Kick-Ass will eventualy be in all locales, they’re having a few localisation issues but the plan is to get it everywhere in the end.

Is it just my browser but does after ‘Alternative Pop 1 Track Pack’ everything is underlined including the comments section?
Might be a HTML tag needed looking at maybe?
I’m on Firefox BTW.
44
Posted on 12 May, 2010 at 2:44 pm by wardragon989
Woah why is everything underlined O.o
Good list but nothing there for me
45
Posted on 12 May, 2010 at 2:44 pm by fords30
Maybe it’s just my browser but I think you’re missing a closed bracket or whatever), e.g. somewhere in the code for this page. :/
Just after ‘Guitar Hero 5′ by the looks of it..Open tag.
Regardless, not a bad update at all.
Nice deal on Critter Crunch there..I’ll be sure to download Ep.6 of FirstPlay later.

i’ll ask, yet again, where’s the british game car jack streets?
it’s a sad state of affairs when a british developer can’t get their game released on the eu store.
with a recently deceased, less than 24hours ago, ps3, most of that is useless to me for the foreseeable future.
i was hoping scee would finally get their act together and release CJS this week.
i really should know better by now.
47
Posted on 12 May, 2010 at 2:45 pm by dgnfly
with valuable i meant full games not add-on stuff that is overpriced
48

@ dgnfly,
do you actually own that agrest game? or are you moaning for the sake of moaning?

Hey Ross!
How come PSN users in the Middle East don’t get MW2 DLC while both steam and XBOX live users in the M.E. do.
Why is it always Sony??
Its hard being a loyal fanboy when you’re in the UAE.
Posted on 12 May, 2010 at 3:12 pm by Ross McGrath
Heya rakwarrior – we asked Activision last week about why they didn’t choose to release the pack in the UAE, but we’re still waiting on a response.
As soon as we know, we will do what we can to get the packs up if they give us the go ahead.
I’m afraid when it come to third-party content we can’t force the publishers to release everything everywhere if they choose not to and normally they have a good reason. If it were up to me and Mike, everyone would get everything all the time (and this is something we are constantly pushing for).
