How does this sound?
We fly you and a friend to gamescom in Cologne, Germany on the 17th August. We give you exclusive access to the Sony Computer Entertainment press conference. And then we give you tickets to the gamescom 2010 show for 2 days, book you into hotel while you’re there and then fly you home on the 20th August.
And if that’s not enough, we’ll also give you the hardware you need to create your very own blog post to tell everyone all the great stuff you saw at the show. Thanks to VAIO and Sony Electronics you will also get a brand new, ultra portable VAIO P-Series laptop and an amazing Sony bloggie HD camera, perfect for capturing and uploading all your favourite moments.
Two runners up will win a Sony bloggie HD camera.

Aww, why leave out the Netherlands

Apologies, but we could only run the competition in those countries for a number of reasons. Keep checking your local PS.com for competitions in your country

PS:once again i might say.

Sadly, no Poland. Why Sony is thinking that Poland and other bigger countries are not the part of Europe? It’s logistic problem or what?

“There is still not one Europe”
. Where is Poland?

I hate competitions like these, i’m terrible at writing reviews and stuff like this.
I won’t be entering myself because of that but good luck to everyone who does enter! I’ll be looking forward to the coverage from the event!
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 10:49 am by James Thorpe
Ah go on!! you never know and if your not used to writing things like this then it may well be the most original and entertaining??
They are also looking for informative. Its’s only 150 words, give it a go!!

Good luck to those who enter this competition!
Off topic here.
But i believe I have given a chance to Sony for years and years but it looks like they still lacking! I can only move ahead with one competitor to PS3 which will give me a smile. I give up Sony…. as a loyal consumer I decided I had enough and would like more content on a global scale and Xbox has got it right.
I am an average consumer like many others and always look for value, entertainment, ease of use and most importantly fun. Sony hasn’t met this criteria with both the PS3 and especially the PSP! I realize xbox has got everything right with their new slim.
I sincerely would like to thank you guys for years of entertainment (including the funky PS2) but your competition has eaten you out alive as of now. The competition has proven to dominate the consumer market and actually listen and respond to their fellow consumers. My advice is ‘action not words’! The PS+ is a major rip off as I have just realized (regret the purchase)… in EU territory. Sony has always been known to move backwards… What happened to PS2 emulation? No news on Cross game chat?
PS. I absolutely enjoyed this blog for Playstation news.

“Enter our competitions to win great prizes with PlayStation.
There are currently no open competitions. Please check back for chances to win great prizes with PlayStation”
been like this for NZ for a while now.

eeuuurch, I don’t have a passport, does that count me out?
I’d love to win for my brother, he is desperate to go because Guild Wars 2 is playable at the event lol
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 12:01 pm by James Thorpe
Afraid you would def need a valid passport to travel. Could you get one sorted before the winners are picked on the 9th?

Once again no comments from Mr. Thorpe as to why ALMOST every competition is for UK and Ireland only…. please reconsider your URL, and make it something other than .eu you are foremost a british site, accomodating those when we look at things other than general newsbits…
I hate getting newsletters with “Big competition, come join.. yada yada.. and that you do not even have the diginity to state it very clear in this newsbit that its not for others than residents in UK/Ireland – but leave it up to everybody to check the T&C’s
Bah humbug… good job on news and stuff though… but please rethink your competitions, or make more of them (seperate like with the Modnation World Cup competition and include lots more countries
Ohh.. and spill the beans on Video Store for more countries, as promised last year at GamesCom to several medias…

Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 11:53 am by MartyMcFly_DK
Actually – right now – the link for the T&C are broken and is reported as (in danish):
Vi kan ikke finde den ønskede side. Hvis du tror, at dette er et beskadiget link, kan du give os besked om fejlen ved at gå ind på siden Kontakt os. Ellers prøv at gå tilbage til hjemmesiden eller brug søgefunktionen til at surfe videre på playstation.com.
So.. you cannot really refuse any applicants from being eligble for taking part in the competition?
An answer to that please?
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 12:16 pm by James Thorpe
Apologies for the confusion, I am getting ‘Open to people in UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Spain’ added to the title of this post to avoid confusion.
There are many reasons why we can’t do certain competitions in all countries that I can’t go into but we always try to get them live in as many countries as we possibly can.
The link to the Terms and Conditions are those on the UK PS.com so I assume that is an arror message as you are not in the UK?
Apologies for any inconvenience

so is there one winner per country or how does this work?
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 12:19 pm by James Thorpe
Hi, that’s right. one winner from UK/Ire, one from Fra, one from Ger and one from Spain. Then 2 runners up from each market get a bloggie camera.
Best of luck!

Ive written an english review, but am currently resident in germany? where do i want to submit to? will the germans accept an english review?!
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 12:27 pm by James Thorpe
Hi, if you live in germany then i’m afraid you would need to enter the german competition and send your review in german. Afraid this is the only way to keep it fair.
A good way to practice your German as well
Good luck

Write a short review on any PS3 game? Sounds good! I’ll give it a shot. Now to decide – BlazBlue, inFamous, Assassin’s Creed 2, Uncharted 2 or Demon’s Souls?
25
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 12:09 pm by SlipperyFella
Well, if I won, which is unlikely but you never know, I would get a premium fast track service and get my passport done in a day or so.
Would I HAVE to have one on the day it’s announced?
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 12:31 pm by James Thorpe
Hi, it would be better to have it before the end of next week if you can because we need to book the flights ASAP as they are selling out fast. Got any holidays planned that you will need it for anyway?
Send your entry anyway and we can go from there

Just a thanks from me i’m afraid
you should enter anyway though, you never know!!!

This is why I love the EU blog. We have competitions in the U.S. but they would never even try to give you a plane to fly you to the location. Pretty much all US contests you have to live in California.
Can I enter this even though I’m in the U.S.? I was born in England

Hi there.
does the review have to be 150-300 words?
I have written a review of Resistance 2 a few years ago,
which is 700 words long
Would that be OK?
Posted on 30 July, 2010 at 9:14 am by James Thorpe
I’m afraid not. We already have a lot of reviews for the creative directors to go through so they just wouldn’t have time. How about a cut down version of it?
37
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 3:07 pm by Fantatier
@bravo9zero
id hazard a guess and say, no.
38
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 3:10 pm by bravo9zero
Oh well, I hope that’s not the case.
Would be quite hard too compress my review into 300 words.
39
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 3:29 pm by bravo9zero
I just remembered i have 250 word review of Echochrome i did in 2008
Still an amazing game.
40
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 3:31 pm by nick_gc
It’s actually harder than you think to write a game review making sure you get everything across in just 300 words. Still done it at 298 words and sending it in!

Maybe these blog posts should have better planning
Like putting all the emails in instead of only putting them up when someone asks
Posted on 30 July, 2010 at 9:17 am by James Thorpe
very funny BiosNova
this has the UK email add, the french post has the french email, etc, etc. Everyone just comes on the uk one though. Maybe you guys just love talking to me?!?!
It may not always work to plan, but there is a plan. Good luck in the comp!!

I don’t really understand the ‘There are many reasons why we can’t do certain competitions in all countries that I can’t go into’ part. I was always quite certain it’s the matter of local laws regarding that kind of competitions and possible additional cost to winner (which might be true in Poland, probably depends on reward value), but since you use that kind of sentence it points us towards direction of Sony’s inner politics – making it simple, sounds like those are the only markets that SCEE plans to fully support at the moment.
47
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 7:10 pm by Spurvugle
For Norway too ?
48
Posted on 29 July, 2010 at 8:00 pm by Heartsbane
I doubt I’d ever be lucky enough for this question to apply to me, but I presume these Gamescom tickets would just be for the public area, yeah? No exciting back-room tidbits in the private area?
Nonetheless, it’s an amazing competition. Very generous of you guys, especially considering there are four winners and eight runners-up! Lots of nice kit up for grabs!
Posted on 30 July, 2010 at 9:25 am by James Thorpe
Hi, actually the winner gets a pretty amazing bonus as well as the entry to the show for 2 days. On the first day there you get to go the closed SCEE press conference and hear all the SCEE news before anyone else! This event is normally ‘press only’ so its def a ‘money can’t buy’ prize. plus all the great hardware of course, the laptop and cameras are both amazing!! Best of luck

Just clicked send on the email.. all i can do now is hope i win… Summing up Assassins Creed 2 in under 300 words while being entertaining and informative is no easy task…
if i do win i’ll wear the RedFRO Outfit (check PS Home forums and search for FROfest) at gamescom on the 18th
those around at the birth of the RedFRO will know the significance of this, especially wearing it at gamescom
