Hello dear readers, here’s your comic update with 62 cool new comics this week and a bonus treat for DC’s Bayou fans.
In Batman Black & White, DC proudly pays tribute to the past, recapturing the classic spirit of black & white comic book storytelling. Centered around the Dark Knight, this series features a stellar line-up of creators contributing 8-page stories to each issue in a rich variety of styles, tones and textures, all with an innate pulp fiction feel. Issue #1, featuring a cover by Jim Lee, includes the work of Jose Muñoz, Joe Kubert, Ted McKeever, Howard Chaykin, and Bruce Timm. I cannot recommend this stunning comic enough!
IDW’s brilliant Infestation series continues with Infestation: Transformers #2. Zombies are the latest show on the Vegas Strip, and it’s going to be an action-packed battle of machine and mayhem to get this town cleaned up!
In the fallout from HOUSE OF M a new mutant team is forged… X-Factor! X-Factor (2005) introduces the investigative mutant agency including Madrox—the Multiple Man, Guido—the Strong Guy, Wolfsbane—the shape-shifter, Siryn—the chorus girl, Rictor—the living earthquake, and GENERATION X’s Monet—the pompous witch. Drawn together in the heart of District X, this rag-tag band of heroes has a lot of answers to find, and fast!
Fearsome acrobatics, ingenuity and waffles are also on the menu in Devil’s Due Digital Ninja Town, Zenescope’s Grimm Fairy Tales continue with a modern take on The Robber Bridegroom, and other highlights include more Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, Silent Hill, Dungeons & Dragons and many more.
We are also very excited to bring you a Q&A session with Bayou creator Jeremy Lowe!
“The mind behind the hauntingly epic digital comic series, Bayou is ready to take your questions.”
Bayou has been tantalizing the PlayStation Network with each release from the acclaimed DC Digital series. Writer Jeremy Love weaves a eery tale of Lee Wagstaff traveling to a twisted version of her 1930′s, Mississippi town to find her friend before Lee’s father is wrongly lynched for kidnapping.
In this other world, Lee meets a blues-singing, swamp monster, named Bayou and the infamous Brer Rabbit who help her on her grave mission. The story of Bayou is an imaginative epic covering some sensitive issues, so the creator is taking questions before he heads to sunny San Francisco as a guest of WonderCon.
Just head over to the official PlayStation Forums here: http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Digital-Comics-General/Take-part-in-our-Bayou-Q-amp-A/td-p/12554268 to submit your query. It can be anything you like – we’re especially keen to see some really unusual questions. We’ll then pick the best ones, put them to the DC Digital creator and publish his answers right here on the PlayStation Blog.

When will Switzerland get the comic store? I hope at least when NGP hits.
Posted on 16 March, 2011 at 4:05 pm by Pauline Martyn
There are no plans for more stores at present, sorry.

Are any other publishers coming on board soon? Mass Effect or Walking Dead comics perhaps?

Not in the near future – I’d love to get Darkhorse (Hellboy! Blacksad!) on board as well as more Image… Hopefully I have more news soon.

That looks like a big update this week and some very good stuff in it (though that is always the case
)
With my PS3 broken as of yesterday (dead harddrive I think) I guess it gives me plenty of to catch up on my comics.

So many comics this week – and so many more coming soon.
Bad news for your PS3, I hope you can get it sorted soon… Good luck!

Forgive me for asking, but is Dark Horse publishing on the comic store? I’d love to buy some of their excellent Manga titles.
Posted on 16 March, 2011 at 4:13 pm by Pauline Martyn
Not at all – no we don’t have Dark Horse unfortunately… They do amazing comics (and manga) so I sure hope that will change in the future.

Free comics with Playstation Plus would be a slap in the face to the people who can’t access the digital comics store.
No thanks.

How to COMPLETELY remove Digital Comics from my PSP, because I can’t use this and I don’t want to be reminded everytime I turn my PSP on.
Thank you.
Posted on 16 March, 2011 at 4:14 pm by Pauline Martyn
The request has been placed, but I have no visibility as to when/how it will be done, sorry Shou_Kobayashi!

Thanks for the response Pauline. i’d also like to ask if you guys have ever thought about adding Motion Comics to your service. there are some excellent examples on youtube if you haven’t seen them before.
Posted on 16 March, 2011 at 5:20 pm by Pauline Martyn
You’re welcome. We have looked into motion comics (some are very impressive!), but as they are video files they would have to go on the Video store instead of the Comic store… Shame, it would have been a nice addition.

Has their been any murmurings perhaps of Angel/Buffy being digitized at all Pauline? Especially interested in the so called continuation of the actual series of angel comic series. The updates are really starting to get cracking now Pauline congrats from me to the team!
Posted on 16 March, 2011 at 5:22 pm by Pauline Martyn
There has been murmurings, but no further news or confirmation yet so… fingers crossed! I’ll investigate.
And thanks for the kind words, I will pass on the message – our pleasure!

(In this post SCEE will be refeared to as you).
Hmm, maybe I should write the publishers and ask them to threaten you whit either you release to the whole EU or to Not give comics for release in UK (and other spots that have it) Maybe that will help rest of EU get it? I will apologise to most UK citizen if I do this, exept for the ones that think rest of EU dont deserve the comics store.
The good old questions:
Release in Scandinavia/rest of EU?
Comics reader for PS3 (ofcourse this should only come AFTER rest of EU gets acces to the store).
And Crossregion gifting?
Posted on 16 March, 2011 at 5:25 pm by Pauline Martyn
Hi Shadowdragoon – that wouldn’t do unfortunately, as the statement mentioned it is an internal decision and publishers or UK customers don’t deserve that.
No news otherwise, sorry.

Why can not we download the English versions in the Dutch store?
Posted on 16 March, 2011 at 5:26 pm by Pauline Martyn
Because we don’t have a store in your territory unfortunately – the store is key to the ability to purchase. Sorry you can’t access the comics.

Like a petulant child throwing his toys out the pram. *shakes head is disgust*
ON topic (can’t have enough of THOSE kinds of comments) great to see more Spidey. Thanks very much!

Hi Pauline. Thanks for replying last week regarding the 150+ skipped issues of Sonic the Hedgehog. Will you be able to ask them why they’ve decided to skip so many issues? Thanks.

You should also remove the following text from your homepage.
We do plan to launch the service in as many countries as possible, we just can’t be certain when. Please check back here now and then, and who knows…
As it is clearly a lie

‘IDW’s brilliant Infestation’ is clearly a lie too. It’s awful beyond awful. The only even remotely good one in it so far is the Ghostbusters (which makes sense seeing as they deal with dead things all the time). The Transformers one is the worst and not helped by Nick Roche’s piss poor and ill fitting ‘art’. IDW trying to cash in on stuff Marvel and DC already did far better. Blackest Night was an epic event. Infestation feels like it’s written by brainless zombies.

Hi there. I was wondering if anyone had reported this bug. Comics that are viewed by using the ‘read next comic in the series’ option are not marked as ‘read’. This is annoying as I usually use the ‘unread’ category to find the new comics I have added each week.
Anyway, love the service!
cheers
