This is just a very short post to confirm that your eyes are not deceiving you – PlayStation.Blog now has a new colour scheme in line with the changes to PlayStation branding.
You may already have seen some of this new branding in action without realising it – for the last few weeks any game trailers we’ve posted have had a short blue intro instead of the old black ones. Similar changes have been made to TV and print advertising.
You’ll be seeing similar changes across all of our online channels over the coming weeks.

I think the older version was easier on the eye, but probably just have to get used to the new colour schemes :/

It’s taking some getting used to be for me too. It’s like getting home from work to find someone has painted your room a different colour.

It does look a lot better and I disagree with Chocobo115 I think this version is easier and more pleasing to the eye.

I like it! Adding some blurring to the edges on top like you mentioned will make it even better. I was thinking Vita straight away when I saw it. Might be my mind playing tricks on me, cause I think about that all the time:D

Not to sound like a killjoy, but personally I preferred the old one. The US blog looks really slick. My main gripe is that the background is too bland especially on my widescreen monitor.

It’s not directly PS Vita related, more of a change in branding direction for the company as a whole. These colours are going to be synonymous with PlayStation going forward.

swap the grey center bg for black and the widgets and posts will really pop

Looks very nice, but i found a little tweak you need to make about the comments, more so on the staff side I noticed in the PS store update, He posted a comment on the grey background then added a link which turned out to be blue and VERY hard to see

OK so the blue is nice but on a larger resolution display (1280×800) the blue bands at the side become to wide.
The lighter blue on the left is especially distracting drawing the eye from the content and posts and making reading uncomfortable
Ideally the blue banner and blog sections but something darker for the site background is needed

The current banners at the top (DanceStar, Battlefield etc.) have a black finish at their ends which doesn’t really fit with the new colour scheme.
Other than that, I like this design very much

to follow up I changed the page background from bg-body.png to #000000 and it’s much easier on the eye but retains the blue branding for most of the site

Initially my eyes felt attacked.
But I think with the softer border edges as has been mentioned, and some work on the background image (perhaps a softer gradient and some slight variation in the colours) it would be ok.
It feels a little ‘plain’ at the minute, but I think it will get there.

One day we should have one very own ‘My Playstation’ portal, in which we would be able to personalize our page according to our own tastes and likings. After all, that is the marketing strategy of this age. So this message targets directly the head of online marketing as well as designers. This blue gives me a headache as well.
