‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (26th May 2010)

So I’m pretty confident that this week, there’s got to be something available for everyone…I’ll be surprised if there isn’t. Oh, hello by the way, hope you are well :-)

So, let’s get cracking. The first of the new games I want to highlight this week is Fret Nice, which takes the world of guitar based rock and platforming gameplay mechanics and combines them into a side-scrolling game…intriguing no? Moving on, we have the sequel to Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer, this time with an easier to pronounce title too; Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype. This game features masses of enemies, an arsenal of explosive weaponry, and looks pretty gorgeous too, it’s also a great reminder of the old-school side-scrolling shooters of yesteryear too (what is it with side-scrolling games this week?).

For those of you who have bought the Sam and Max bundle, then Episode 2: The Tomb of Sammun-Mak (catchy title huh, did you see what they did there?) is available this week too. I’m sure there will be many of you who have not had enough Final Fantasy in your life recently, so we’re pleased to say that the PSone release of Final Fantasy IX also hits the store today!

As mentioned on the blog earlier this week, we have the madcap mini Feel For Two available this week, and what’s there not to love about a game that features mini-games with names such as Pile Up! Bakery and Sheep Defense.

I also want to mention quickly that we have MAG dynamic themes available and new avatars from the worlds of Uncharted 2 and Soldner-X 2

As always though I don’t have enough room to write about everything that’s released this week, there are other games, demos and additional content that I have not been able to talk about. So I suggest you take a look below for the full rundown.

As usual, comments fun shall be had, so let me know your thoughts. Cheerio ;)

QuietlyWrong 26 May, 2010 @ 12:32

‘I don’t deserve one of your codes because…’ …I have impeccable tim– oh rats! :S

That made me chuckle…haha, good memory ;)

Wakeboarding price reduction, now i’m going to buy that game!

ShogunDarius 26 May, 2010 @ 12:33

you sly dog with your final fantasy 9 XD

could you please reduce the price for pop:epiloque again :D

Ive been waiting several months for Savage moon to go on sale! I’m glad I waited! A lot more psp content this week, much better!

Whoa. FFIX? That’s just beautiful. Looking forward to trying that one out! :-D

“Obligatory Monkey Island Query” :P

“Obligatory coming soon reply” no date to share just yet ;)

THC_PRITCHARD 26 May, 2010 @ 12:34

hi can you please see if you can get some more ps3 classics like

assault rigs

I can not find this ps3 1 game anywhere

SWEET…MAG THEMES OHHHHH KOOL……And now a harry potter theme?

Huzza! Sam & Max! And Söldner-X 2! I don’t think you’ll know that but let ask anyway: will the Lost songs (You all everybody and Dharma Lady) will come on the PS3 Rockband network?
Thanks again great update!

Is this UPDATE available in AU? It is not labeled on the BLOG Post.

Of course it is :)

The blog label is not about store locales, that’s where my availability section under the titles comes into play.

the secret of monkey island is that it is held up by ‘localisation’………

Where is Monkey Island???!!!

What a shocking surprise!

But i can’t buy it!

Why mike why! =(

ShogunDarius 26 May, 2010 @ 12:37

dude that was one well kept secret there mike, i may moan at when we are last but i certainly praise when we get things in good time as well and this is definately a record.

I like keeping secrets, makes me feel important :)

pretty decent update for once but i do keep wondering what ever happend 2 half-minute hero for the other country’s and are we getting any Record Of Agarest War DLC and are you guys ever plannig on getting any games for atlus considering thy almost released every psp game they had a year ago on USA store

Hi Mike

Glad to see Soldner up today! Just a quick question while I’m here then, any idea of Ridge Racer (any version, although preferably the PSOne original or RR2 for PSP) hitting the store soon? I can’t believe it was all those years ago we saw Kaz doing the infamous demo and yet us EU folk still can’t download it to our PSPs!

Any news is much appreciated and keep up the good work!

It’s one of the titles I keep asking about, but there are things that have to be hurdled first. My fingers are crossed though.

Hi Mike,

FF IX, Sam and Max and Uncharted 2 avatars. I think its Captain Quark’s time to go. I have not changed it since I got my PS3 at launch. So nows its Schafers turn.

I guess you will have first dibbs on Tenzin right Mike. :)

Hi Mike, do you have any idea if GTI Club supermini Festa is still coming to the EU PSN Store?

Bravo Mike great update. Any news about an offer of Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty, like it happend several times at US PSN Store ?

Final Fantasy IX!? That’s like, the best surprise birthday present ever.

Except it’s not my birthday. And I have to buy it.

But other than that, the best surprise birthday present ever!

The_Shuffle 26 May, 2010 @ 12:40

Mike, my birthday is June 16th. Will my beloved Planet Minigolf be with me by then?

Should be yes ;)

wait for a year you might get it then

sharpenedpixel 26 May, 2010 @ 12:42

Any chance of a price reduction on Cuboid or Afterburner, please?

Definitely going to get FirstPlay this week, Blast Off is meant to be great. Really considering SoldnerX 2, shame they didn’t do a trial and unlock. Voodoo Dice looks intriguing, glad it has a demo because there’s no reviews!

agentsmith2000 26 May, 2010 @ 12:42

FF9 and DJ Max awesome

Wasn’t expecting FF9 for a couple of months! Never played it before either so will be grabbing that as soon as the store goes live!

Mike where’s the SBK X demo for PS3 :<

It is for PS3, I put it in the wrong section by mistake, it’ll be amended in the list soon.

Good spot, you can have 10 points :)

Mike, do you reckon Peggle will ever make its way across to psp?

Nothing there that concerns me. Still waiting for Wild Arms to appear on the PS1 range.

Then you have a heart of stone… :P

Actually, i do have one other query. Is the demo for backbreaker football coming to the EU store any time soon? :)

So when can we expect Final Fantasy VI Mike ;)

The_Shuffle 26 May, 2010 @ 12:44

Also, a few questions about avatars.

1) Are we getting any of the other avatars that SCEA released yesterday? 4 from SSF4 and 10 from Pain.

2) Why don’t we get avatar bundles? SCEA released bundles for LBP and U2 where you get 4 or 5 avatars in the pack for $1.49, basically getting 2 free. We still have to buy them all individually.

Mike any news regarding ToE yet =(

Also can i have free code for FFIX please =(

AoNekoAmaru 26 May, 2010 @ 12:44

This week’s titles and DLC is killing my wallet but… “DJ Max Fever” now that’s killing me! <3 I've imported all the DJ MAX titles and love them so this one is going right to my PSP Go! But first I'll go hunt some Akrids in Rathalos armour. XD Thanks SCEE and a lovely summer start to you too! ;D

Hi Mike, great update!

Any idea when we might see the Pinball Heroes Bundle 2 over here? And just out of interest, what about Ape Escape and Spyro PSone Classics?

Gateway_Drifter 26 May, 2010 @ 12:44

hi mike

i was wondering whether spyro 1,2,3 are coming to PSN soon? but i am looking forward to downloading Final Fantasy IX

Hi again Mike,

I am surprised we got FF IX this week. I was expecting to get Grandia first.

Speaking of which any word on Grandia?

Mike, just for a laugh, tell us when Williams Pinball is coming out :D

Shush you…troublemaker ;)

What time will the store be updated please?

About 3 (as usual) I believe :)

moriarty1975 26 May, 2010 @ 12:46

Great update. Hopefully some modnation DLC coming soon….

For the last few days i can’t seem to top up my PSN account with my Visa card?
It says –
“The credit card information on file is not valid”?

But the card is ok and working ok to(i can order stuff from other sites online + i know the Visa card is ok) + i have checked the details of the card 1 million times to on[Account Management]on my PSN Account + It has worked before with that card to a few weeks ago)
+ The same thing happened a few weeks ago to(i just left it a few days and it worked again) Not sure why it does this for :-(

Anyway i will get stuff soon then :D (might have to get a PSN Card)

nice update, and great job for getting FFIX out before the US! Is it too late to get Sam and Max if one didnt pre-order?

Also, will there be any Modnation Racers PSP DLC coming? Just picked this up yesterday and its awesome :)

moriarty1975 26 May, 2010 @ 12:47

3pm ish if all goes to plan.

Final Fantast 9 + New avatars?!?!?!

SCEE actually did something right and on time?!
Are we all gonna get YLOD, because something like this always needs a balance right Lol

Nah but seriously Mike this is actually how smoothly things should run.

Well done.

PS: any news on Team Ico Collections mate? Theres rumours all over the net right now of it coming soon. Make my day with a reply mike…

ShogunDarius 26 May, 2010 @ 12:48

Mike on a more serious note, I hope I don’t give the impression of a stuck in the mud gamer wanting everything now. I merely want equality between the stores, not only on release dates but pricing too.

If I have portrayed myself in a poor light I am sorry, I merely ‘fight’ for the equality of all regions not just the EU. It is sad to know america didn’t get FF9 this week (but I can’t help feel its abit justified after FF8 :P)

You have no need to apologise for anything, feedback is always welcome ;)

weecoulter1 26 May, 2010 @ 12:48

Why does the EU accounts not get Rock Band Green Day? Its not like its not a big game that will be coming out? ;/

Great update mike . Just to ask mate will we see resident evil 1 2 3 ps1 classics anytime soon as that’s what would finally make store awesome and have the main classics
