6 new PlayStation Store releases you need to check out this week

Pyre, Fortnite, TinyTrax and more, plus the rest of the new releases on PS Store detailed

It’s Monday, but you can shake off those back-to-work blues with a warm welcome from this week’s new PlayStation Store releases. Read on for a selection of highlights this week’s slate of new arrivals, with your usual full release list right underneath!

1. Pyre

From the creators of Transistor and Bastion comes Pyre, a party-based RPG with a huge cast of unique characters and the studio’s biggest campaign yet. In Pyre, you will have to lead a band of exiles through an ancient competition spread across a vast, mystical purgatory.

The game’s atmospheric hand-painted art and evocative musical score by Darren Korb (the composer of Bastion and Transistor’s soundtracks) perfectly complement its clever core gameplay, as your cast of characters takes part in action-packed three-on-three combat against rival groups of exiles in their quest for freedom. And on top of the single-player campaign, Pyre also lets you play against a friend in a customisable local two-player versus mode. Check out the trailer below:

Launches: 25th July

2. Fortnite

Fortnite, the colourful new multiplayer action game from Epic Games, is all about survival! 98% of the world’s population are dead and monsters have invaded the land… The situation does not look rosey. But you are not alone! Build your fort and fight back with friends in this four player online co-op sandbox game. You’ll have to explore, scavenge items, craft weapons, and fight hordes of zombies. What’s not to like?

3. Aven Colony

Aven Colony offers a unique sci-fi twist on the city-builder genre. Featuring inspired campaign as well as an immersive sandbox mode, the game puts you in charge of humanity’s first extrasolar settlement, based on the alien planet Aven Prime 500 years in the future.

On this planet, you will have to transform a small and vulnerable colony into a prosperous metropolis. But be careful, not only will you have to defend against the planet’s natural weather conditions ranging from cold winds, frost and snow, to actual lightning storms, you will also have to pick up your plasma cannons to protect your colony against the local alien wildlife. As well as a hefty single palyer component, you can also race against up to four friends online in either single races or tournaments. And if you need more convincing, Horizon: Zero Dawn’s composer Joris de Man created the game’s phenomenal soundtrack. Check it out!
