6 new PlayStation Store releases you need to check out this week

Pyre, Fortnite, TinyTrax and more, plus the rest of the new releases on PS Store detailed

It’s Monday, but you can shake off those back-to-work blues with a warm welcome from this week’s new PlayStation Store releases. Read on for a selection of highlights this week’s slate of new arrivals, with your usual full release list right underneath!

1. Pyre

From the creators of Transistor and Bastion comes Pyre, a party-based RPG with a huge cast of unique characters and the studio’s biggest campaign yet. In Pyre, you will have to lead a band of exiles through an ancient competition spread across a vast, mystical purgatory.

The game’s atmospheric hand-painted art and evocative musical score by Darren Korb (the composer of Bastion and Transistor’s soundtracks) perfectly complement its clever core gameplay, as your cast of characters takes part in action-packed three-on-three combat against rival groups of exiles in their quest for freedom. And on top of the single-player campaign, Pyre also lets you play against a friend in a customisable local two-player versus mode. Check out the trailer below:

Launches: 25th July

2. Fortnite

Fortnite, the colourful new multiplayer action game from Epic Games, is all about survival! 98% of the world’s population are dead and monsters have invaded the land… The situation does not look rosey. But you are not alone! Build your fort and fight back with friends in this four player online co-op sandbox game. You’ll have to explore, scavenge items, craft weapons, and fight hordes of zombies. What’s not to like?

Launches: 25th July

3. Aven Colony

Aven Colony offers a unique sci-fi twist on the city-builder genre. Featuring inspired campaign as well as an immersive sandbox mode, the game puts you in charge of humanity’s first extrasolar settlement, based on the alien planet Aven Prime 500 years in the future.

On this planet, you will have to transform a small and vulnerable colony into a prosperous metropolis. But be careful, not only will you have to defend against the planet’s natural weather conditions ranging from cold winds, frost and snow, to actual lightning storms, you will also have to pick up your plasma cannons to protect your colony against the local alien wildlife. Find out more about the game via the creator’s recent PlayStation Blog guest post here.

4. TinyTrax VR

TinyTrax, the new PlayStation VR racer from the crack team behind brilliant twitch shoot ’em up Velocity and Velocity 2X, puts you at the centre of the action as toy cars race on amazing tracks built around the player. As well as a hefty single palyer component, you can also race against up to four friends online in either single races or tournaments. And if you need more convincing, Horizon: Zero Dawn’s composer Joris de Man created the game’s phenomenal soundtrack. Check it out!

Forge your own path and chose to either resist or embrace the eldritch influences at play. Will you corrupt yourself and give away part of your humanity for power?

Finally HBO Go. This really made my day!

Gillen McAllister 25 July, 2017 @ 12:42

Hate to be be the bearer of bad news, but a last minute hitch has meant HBO Go now isn’t releasing this week . It’ll be out soon though, so I’ll give you a nudge when we get a new date confirmed.

HGO Go(ne)

Aven colony and pyre for me. Looked at fortnite and thought this will be a blast. Downloaded and then seen the pricing for it. I’d rather pay for the game not the over inflated micro transactions, DELETED it straight away.

Images for Vita games would be cool too…

Carnivius_Prime 24 July, 2017 @ 17:44

Sundered looks good.

Nioh release @ 25th.

Any news on Red Faction 2 or Summoner?

So now it’s on Monday we get the Store update?

Eric Whelan 25 July, 2017 @ 10:18

Yep, we’re testing out a new format and moved it to Monday so you have more time to see what’s coming.

It’s a bit useless without links to click through and buy the games though, we have to go and search from them instead. Bring back the links!

But fewer options, means less work.

So when will we get the PLAYSTATION VR TITLES Archangel, Ace Banana and so on in Norway?

PSVR needs more games and things like region differences in Europe is destructive!.

CoolRichy007UK 25 July, 2017 @ 13:55

Blame the government they say wat games are aloud its out of sony’s hands if i was incharge id fire every government and allow all games in every country

CoolRichy007UK 25 July, 2017 @ 13:53

Mafia 3 new dlc not in ps store yet and i hope you extend ps now so we can either buy 3 or 12 months because 1 month 12.99 isnt long enough usa has had 1 month 3 months or 12 months ps now subscription for ages i hopqe ps now adds the option soon because i might get it every month

Was there a preorder discount on pyre? If i had of known it was by supergiant i would have preordered it.

Nex machina demo sounds good. I am still on the fence as i found alienation to be meh.

“Lawbreakers Beta” – Open beta?

Patapon remaster? Any news on that? US have preorder PS+ discount. And our store doesnt even have a mention of the game.

So now you can’t be bothered to even embed images for the vita games. Appaling and amazing at the same time. Good thing I gave up on Sony long ago.

Carnivius_Prime 29 July, 2017 @ 12:03

is 29th and i still can’t find the nex machina demo

Same here.

still nothing!

Surprise… Eliza DLC for Tekken 7 is not included in the Season Pass…

I know, it was a pre-order DLC but now it’s available for all and the Season Pass owner (like me) can’t download Eliza for free…
