Hello everyone! As Pete mentioned last week we’re preparing something special for our first anniversary, stay tuned… In the meantime, here are more details on this week’s update.
New publisher alert! We’re delighted to bring you comics by BOOM! Studios as of today. BOOM! Studios is one of the most innovative comic books publishers today, specializing in high-profile projects across a wide variety of genres. This week they bring us 28 Days Later – a comic series connecting he film to its sequel 28 Weeks later. The film that changed horror forever continues here! Selena and her new comrades struggle against the infected, the American presence in the UK… and themselves.
Fan of Ghostbusters? We have something to tie you over until you hear more about Ghostbusters III: Ghostbusters: What in Samhain Just Happened?. A media mogul asks the team to fix his haunted mansion, and their refusal prompts Janine to take matters in her own hands… Not a great idea.
Another highlight is Marvel’s mini-series Ultimate Iron Man (2005) #1-5, revealing Tony Stark’s early life and origins…. Written by international bestseller, four-time Hugo award, two-time Nebula award and World Fantasy Award winner Orson Scott Card, and illustrated by industry legend Andy Kubert (Ultimate X-Men,1602, Origin)!
We also have more Superman/Batman, Wonder Woman Vol.3 and Y: The Last Man for you… and more.

Sitting inside, watching the snow outside the window. Its so calming.
Strange to think that something like a little snow, can create trubble somewhere, and elsewhere not.
The good old questions:
Release in Scandinavia/rest of EU?
Comics reader for PS3
And Crossregion gifting?

No news sorry!
Enjoy the snow – all we get her is sleet…

More companies joining is always a good thing. Would Boom! be kind enough to put their rather excellent Darkwing Duck comic on the store or do they need Disney’s permission?
Posted on 24 November, 2010 at 3:30 pm by Pauline Martyn
oooh Darkwing Duck! I will most definitely ask, I love this character.

Are you still in talks with SCEE and/or publishers or are you having a tea party?
Posted on 24 November, 2010 at 4:03 pm by Pauline Martyn
Er – we *are* SCEE?

(one or both links will probably break, by getting a space in it, just copy the whole part and remove the space)
Nice to see how nature changes.
No complaining on video quality, its a PSP camera.

So even though it’s a month late, Boom! are finally on the store, but I have to say, three issues of 28 Days Later is a shockingly poor way for a new publisher the size Boom! to launch! I’m not at all surprised though given the fact that it’s iVerse that are handling the Boom! releases
The press release from Boom that was released on the 7th October not only said they would be releasing before the end of October, but “in partnership with iVerse Media, has committed to make their entire frontlist and backlist catalog of comics available on the SONY PSP in the coming months.”

It’s going to take a hell of alot longer than a few months to do that if this launch is anything to go by.

has it really been almost a year since the comic store launched?
it’s been a wild ride.
here’s to many more years as good as this one, throughout the rest of europe and on ps3 too.

I know – we need a comic-shaped cake with one candle soon.
Thank you, here’s to that!

I have to ask again, just where exactly are all these comics? I’ve searched the playstation store and pretty much every menu and option but can’t find a single mention of comics or a comic store? Where are we supposed to find and download these things?
Posted on 24 November, 2010 at 4:08 pm by Pauline Martyn
The Comic store can be found on PSN, available on PSP and MediaGo – if you own a PSP you can download our viewer for free and see our store next to the Game/Video stores.
We are not on PS3 at the minute I’m afraid.

Hi Pauline,
Thanks for getting 28 Days Later, that is one of the comics I asked about!
Since you are getting Ultimate Iron Man – will you eventually be getting other Ultimate lines – Spiderman, Fantastic Four, The Ultimates, etc?
Posted on 25 November, 2010 at 11:26 am by Pauline Martyn
Hey timbolton, my pleasure!
Yes there will be many more Ultimate titles!

Hi Pauline,
I asked over a month ago about the possibility of there being anymore Sonic the Hedgehog comics past the first 4. Has Archie made any comments on whether they’re adding anymore. Seems a shame to just add four and be done with it.
Thanks!!

Hi WP-start – yep I remember, I haven’t heard anything yet I’m afraid. I will ask again, I’d like to add more too…
Stay tuned.

If you are SCEE who or what’s delaying the release in other EU countries?

@ StefNighthawk
Another interesting question that I myself would like to know as well…??
Posted on 25 November, 2010 at 11:31 am by Pauline Martyn
We need new stores to be built for us in order to sell comics there, which we (the comics team) can’t do by ourselves – I hope this happens soon too!

Posted on 25 November, 2010 at 1:14 pm by MrLopes
Well maybe you want to ask the guys over @ SCEE to make proper psn subscriptions.I bet there will be enough people willing to pay for services and extra stores.. If that is the problem..
Cause getting a online store up and running what are the things you got to keep in mind..
Server Space
Download/upload speed
Server Maintenance
If just for once someone came up here and explained to us what is taking so long maybe we would understand.

Before I forget it ain’t no celebration without the rest of Europe!!

From the Q&A no date yet but at least a bit more about what is happening… Apperently it is pretty difficult to launch new stores no matter what the stores will contain/sell..
4.When will the service be released to the rest of EU and North America?
We have a date but it’s still not 100% confirmed so I don’t want to promise anything. As you know we were originally expecting these new stores at the beginning of the year. However it seems that switching on a store is more complicated than it seems! We do have some very exciting local publishers lined up for the EU and our plan is to also release our English catalogue where the licence allows.
