If you could reach out and touch this week’s episode of Access TV it would feel small, sleek and curiously curvy. That’s right, episode 18 of Access is on YouTube now, and it’s decidedly PlayStation Vita-shaped, with our headline spot devoted to showing off the tricks, tech and awesome launch titles of the glorious new handheld. Check out the likes of Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Little Deviants and Reality Fighters right now.
And it doesn’t end there. We’ve also got a report from the first PS Vita Rooms event in Manchester, where gamer crowds joined a packed line-up of celebs and performers in checking out the machine (and if you like what you see, make a date in your diary for the last PS Vita Rooms in London next month).
It’s hard to top Manchester for glamour locations, but the team managed it this week with a visit to Rome, where we caught up with Vigil Games honcho and comic book star Joe Madureira about his work on Darksiders II.
As ever we’ve also got a round-up of the biggest PlayStation news and a guide to the best of the Store, which this week include a chat with the guys behind PS Vita’s WipEout 2048 and the long-awaited assassinate-’em-up Hitman: Absolution.
Access TV is available every Friday on YouTube – head to youtube.com/playstationaccess to subscribe and never miss an episode.

Have’nt had a chance to see ep18 yet, But now i see Darksiders2 mentioned it is getting watched asap, cannot wait till that game releases, though the 1st one is one of my all time favourites, so whoever is responsible for the story had better of done it justice, haven’t read or seen much about the sequel, though someone did tell me it’s more of a prequel, and we play as war’s brother, not sure i wanted it to go there as i was looking forward to being war again, but day1 for me anyway.
ps, i don’t know why but when i mentioned this games release last week i got modded, for a few hours, i can only think it was because i used the actual name of wars brother, hence my not using it above, though tbh i can’t imagine a scarier ‘character’, so maybe the mods were right, ?

Agreed! The game looks sweet, can’t wait to grab it myself.
Don’t worry about the moderation thing, sometimes when posts contain certain words the mods just like to check them before they go live

We’ve had a significant pigeon problem at the Access office for the past week. Can you help us with that?

I’m not interested what so ever in the Vita, just another “Overpriced” handheld. Hell, it’s more expensive than my PS3 is! I bought a PSP Go for £200 when it first come out. When i got it home i was like… “Oh, is this it!” Took it back the next day and asked for a refund. I can’t see this version being the replacement for my ps3 i thought the PSPGo was going to be (Not even with twin sticks). And quite frankly if i was to buy it I would probably play it once or twice, get bored then go back to my PS3. The PSP has always been a travel item. I just don’t see how any self-respecting gamer could sit there and play a handheld (Something you do on a bus when you’re bored!) when you’ve got a PS3 running at 1080p on a 52″ Flat-screen! It just doesn’t make sense to me! The only thing that will replace my PS3 will be a PS4! So please Sony stop forcing this Vita rubbish down our throats and bring out the Next Gen console before we all die of old age!

Scott, try it. I’ve seen so many sceptics lower their jaws at the PS Vita Rooms events!
You’ll be able to get your hands on it in most GAME / Gamestation stores in the coming weeks so get your hands on it before you write it off completely

@scottsymons1985
Like you’ve said, handhelds are mainly travel items. Expensive travel items, that if you traveled with (on a bus or train) would most likely vanish before your very eyes before Paul Daniels would have a chance to say “that’s magic”.

Sorry for the rant, but it has to be said. Though i’m not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this but there you go.

Totally agree. Though, none of us here at Access towers can get the music from Frobisher Says out of our heads…

The Vita looks more awesome every time I see it, can’t wait to get my hands on one. The high(ish) price is to be expected for new hardware, and it will come down over time just like the PS3 price has done.
To counter the sceptic’s argument: Why would anyone want to carry a phone around with them when they have one sitting at home? Why would anyone want to carry an iPod around with them when they have a massive sound system sitting at home?
PS: It would be cool if the Access episodes were a bit longer, maybe 15 minutes, and fill the extra time with extended interviews etc.

We’re looking into offering little mini-vids along side Access TV which will go into more depth. Like what we did with our Ken Levine interview (unedited, 10 minutes long!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGZ2FKaEPkk

@RedeyedRonin
That kind of is the whole point. When you’re not at home, whether it’s travelling or simply on your lunch break you can sit and play games.
If you only need a big tv and a PS3 then the Vita’s not for you, on the other hand if you travel a lot or can’t always get on your PS3 then the Vita would be nice to have

Just to be clear…
I’m not really a Vita Skeptic. Im sure its great for the consumers out there that like that sort of thing. It just doesn’t appeal to me. I have rather big hands. Therefore i have never found the modern day handheld consoles to be very comfortable in my giant mits.

And Furthermore…
I’m more of a console and PC kind of guy. I like to emerse myself in to a game like Fallout or Red Dead Redemption. I have a big screen, my own Custom Gaming chair and a booming Sound System to boot. So naturally I’m not going to miss the Vita. When I’m out and about doing my thing, The last thing on my mind is gaming.
It’s my personal preference. And no opinion is wrong.

Watched access TV for the first time last week… Loved it… watched it this week… LOVED IT MORE. I’ll sub on youtube; I love the interviews (like the last of us dev tour) and I’d love it to be downloadable on ps3! Can’t wait for next week.

I will be using my (wifi) vita a lot when i get it, the best place is when having a dump or when my ps3 needs a rest.

Loving the Access TV. Keep up the good work
I finally got some of my mates on it too. Believe it or not, they thought you had to pay for it! Presume they were getting it mixed up for the now extinct FirstPlay. They’re now hooked

Frobishers Says looks like a lot of fun. Think this game has been over looked a lot on the web but is looking like an amazinging game. One question tho, it stated in the video pre-order only? Does that mean those of us that did the pre-order bonus are going to get access to the game on the launch?
Also is there any news on the free copy of Wipeout with the 3G Vita? Do we have to sign to a contract or just pay as you go to get the free game?
