Design Your Own Rag Doll Kung Fu Toy, Win A PS3!

So, how good is your Kung Fu? Now’s the time to show it off, along with your design skills if you want to become part of the massively popular PSN game and win a PS3.

We’d like you to design a brand new toy for Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, the quirky loose-limbed puppet fighting game from Tarsier Studios. The best design will be picked out by the dev team and transformed into an in-game toy character, which will be available to download for free from PlayStation Store for use in Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic.

The winner and ten runners-up will each get their own voucher code, entitling them to a free download of the game from the PlayStation Store. We also have a shiny new PS3 here for the talented creator of the winning design!

How to take part:
Download the template open it in an image editor such as Paint, Photoshop or Paintshop Pro, and draw on your toy design. Don’t worry if you’re not a master of image editors – the competition is about imaginative and interesting designs, so if your concept is great you still have a good chance of winning. Alternatively, you can print off the template to create something truly unique using random items from around your house – just send a photo of your finished handiwork.

  • Your PSN Online ID (if you have one)

The closing date and time for all entries is Sunday, 12 July, 2009 at 23:59 BST / Monday, 13 July, 2009 at 00:59 CEST.

And don’t forget that the Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic Avatar Hunt is currently underway in PlayStation Home, where you can try to win a limited edition RDKF fish rug.

Good luck!

That bug was fixed very fast, thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

Cool! Time to get those creative juices flowing.

serendipiddy 19 June, 2009 @ 10:52 am   4

so what size do we use? the large (1024 x 663) or original
(1958 x 1267)?

my friends ps3 died, so i’m gonna win this for them ๐Ÿ™‚

    Charlotte Large 19 June, 2009 @ 11:32 am

That’s extraordinarily generous of you, serendipiddy! I hope your friend appreciates your efforts on their behalf ๐Ÿ™‚

For the template: best to use the Original size, thanks. This is will make the toy design look so much better in-game.

Cool, I’m glad to see the EU Blog are starting to run competitions like this, it really bugged me when the US Blog got a cool competition like the R&C weapon design one and the terms were US residents only. I hope this is the first of many!

If I get chance I might give this a go, I like creating things in PhotoShop! Shame I already have a copy of the game though, if I’m a runner-up could I swap it for that fish rug? lol

Speaking of the fish rug, you didn’t exactly make it easy did you! When you said Fists of Plastic trousers I thought you meant something bright and obvious that you could spot a mile away – instead you have to walk around Home looking at peoples butt to see if they have a little red tattoo on their right cheek!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I got one of those nice Everybody’s Golf sofas though so it’s not all bad! Speaking of that space – didn’t you guys spot that at the game launching reception the sign is still for Hotshots Golf Out of Bounds (the US title)?

wonderfull contest, surely will participate!

marcindpol 19 June, 2009 @ 11:18 am   7

crap game, got it for free from us store, played for 3 minutes and deleted it…

Mr_Petter 19 June, 2009 @ 11:20 am   8

I might give this a try, the only problem is that I suck at drawing…. But how detailed does it have to be? Is it the mostly the shape that your looking at, or the colours and everything?

    Charlotte Large 19 June, 2009 @ 11:38 am

Hey Mr_Petter. It’s the idea and creativity that counts, not your artistic ability or Photoshop skills. So give it a go – we’ll look forward to seeing what you think up.

Teeny-tiny details won’t show up in the game, so you might want to steer clear of these. Draw your toy design onto the template, add some colour and you’ll be good to go. ๐Ÿ™‚

My creative juices are flowing!

If I was a runner up would I be able to recive a different game! I’ve already got RD:KF!

nickjd331 19 June, 2009 @ 11:37 am   10

I’ll have to give this a try, I don’t have much of a chance but i’ll try.

There have been lots about Rag Doll Kung Fu recently.

Kenshin71 19 June, 2009 @ 11:51 am   11

Speaking of toys, will the LBP Sackboys that SCEE gave away ever be made available for sale? They were really popular and I’m sure a lot of people would like one or be able to give one as a present. BTW I bought RDKF but couldn’t get into it.

    Charlotte Large 19 June, 2009 @ 12:30 pm

Those little Sackboys are great, aren’t they? ๐Ÿ˜€
As far as I know, they’re not intended for sale (how would you put a price on Sackboy?!). Maybe we’ll just have to run another giveaway at some point.

wbrinkman 19 June, 2009 @ 11:51 am   12

Link to the rules is incorrect

EnGhedi 19 June, 2009 @ 12:19 pm   13

Yesterday I found moderator IzzyJ at home wearing the pants and said “Fists of Plastic” as the promotion mentioned.
BUT, she didn’t give me any code or item to add the prize.
I said to her, “I didn’t get anything” and she replid “you will need to guess” or somehting. I tried to follow her to ask what she meant, but she vanished afterwards. She did offer the prize to people after me, so I don’t think I missed the oportunity. The question is, why wasn’t I prized with the rug?

    Charlotte Large 19 June, 2009 @ 12:37 pm

Hey EnGhedi. Don’t worry – the codes for the rugs are being given out after the competition has closed, so we can remove any duplicate or ineligible entries to keep things fair.

All you should need to do is type “Fists of Plastic” in chat to the pant-wearing people in PS Home; they’ll confirm that your entry has been received with a simple “Okay”.

How about you just give the game to us for free like SCEA?

Kenshin71 19 June, 2009 @ 1:00 pm   15

“As far as I know, theyโ€™re not intended for sale (how would you put a price on Sackboy?!).”

That’s easy, like this, ‘Sackboys are now available for purchase at X shop/on Amazon for X.XX pounds.’ Seriously, please pass on the request to marketing, maybe even run a survey on the blog to gauge interest. “Not intended for sale” seems like another poor marketing decision.

wbrinkman 19 June, 2009 @ 1:04 pm   16

You’re welcome.

The_Killian 19 June, 2009 @ 1:09 pm   17

This should be fun! Can’t wait to try it out. Love the game, but could always give the code to a friend.

wardragon989 19 June, 2009 @ 1:36 pm   18

=O this is very cool news my friend has wanted a PS3 for a while but couldn’t afford it (Uni comes first) so if i win it for him it might be good, shame my skills are that good =/ But i might as well try

Also its nice to see competitions like this, so thanks =D

imajinetion 19 June, 2009 @ 1:46 pm   19

Why a PS3? Chances are, if you’re here in the first place, you already have one.

Cesarcsrf 19 June, 2009 @ 2:41 pm   20

well now you got the chance to have 2 ! xD

Charlotte Large 19 June, 2009 @ 2:43 pm   21

We get a wide variety of people entering our competitions, and not everyone owns a PS3 (maybe they own a PSP, PS2, neither etc). It would be such a huge shame if the winner wasn’t able to see their finished toy in the game.

Are we allowed to use characters that appear in first-party SCE games? (For instance, sackboy! but don’t nick my idea people!)

    Charlotte Large 19 June, 2009 @ 3:52 pm

Hey reakt – the design of the toy character should be unique and all your own work.

Rorkimaru 19 June, 2009 @ 3:07 pm   23

Great contest idea. I hope you guys run a tonne of these. Prises don’t even need to be so extravagant. Free copies of a game or PSN vouchers and so on. Its more the fun of competition than the prize (Though I’d love the prize!).

I’m off to start designing =D

Rorkimaru 19 June, 2009 @ 3:08 pm   24

Oh, and a quick question, can you make a female character?

    Charlotte Large 19 June, 2009 @ 3:54 pm

Most definitely. You can design a male or female character, or an animal, bird, alien, robot… let your imagination go crazy!

pabloamigo 19 June, 2009 @ 3:58 pm   25

kick, punch it’s all in the mind! ๐Ÿ™‚

I may have a bash at this.

Pacman_Ownage 19 June, 2009 @ 4:41 pm   26

hope more of these come in the future ๐Ÿ˜€
(PS… what GB will the PS3 be?)
iif its 60 + i might actually try ๐Ÿ˜›

Mattiebo123 19 June, 2009 @ 5:44 pm   27

i have a question, how many toys can you enter into the competition? i have made 2 designs and can’t decide which one to use. thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

    Charlotte Large 19 June, 2009 @ 6:00 pm

It’s just one design per person, but the competition is open for another 3+ weeks so you don’t need to make any rush decisions.

BenX42316 19 June, 2009 @ 6:22 pm   28

Might just have to enter this one
Thanks for being generous and offering cool prizes to our community!!!

Super--Brad 19 June, 2009 @ 6:38 pm   29

These templates are good but what if we wanted to make a female toy doll?
I checked your uploading site but none were there, could you up load one please XD

furious_187 19 June, 2009 @ 8:28 pm   30

I would love to see Slovenia on the list of countries for this competition. And finnaly geting the PSN Store would be awesome:D

I think I’ll have a go at this ๐Ÿ™‚

Are there limits to what i can do? Like maybe powers and stuff, clothes, accesories?

Also, does it need to be in a humon-oid form? Or something completly different?

RagingWhisky 20 June, 2009 @ 4:01 am   33

I’m gonna design likes it’s 1999!!

martijn1987 20 June, 2009 @ 6:39 pm   34 my try, wonder what you guys think of it ๐Ÿ™‚

BalramRules 21 June, 2009 @ 11:03 am   35

This is great, the thing is that I’m too lazy, I’ll stick with playing PS3 Games, because I already got one and don’t need one more : )
Good Luck to the rest of you though : [)

BalramRules 21 June, 2009 @ 11:03 am   36

Cool. ๐Ÿ˜‰

almondo07 24 June, 2009 @ 1:33 pm   40

Any chance of more single-player content rather than a free in-game character?

Great competition! I submitted my entry earlier today. ๐Ÿ™‚
