The PlayStation weekly wrap-up

23 2

Your regular run-down of everything that’s been happening this week.

So that’s another week done on planet PlayStation, and what a week it’s been. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll probably know that our family is growing with a trimmer, slimmer PS4, and a new big brother coming to play in the form of PlayStation 4 Pro.

That’s not to mention PS VR being just around the corner – and there’s been a lot to say on that front too, plus the launch of one of the most eccentric titles of recent times. So without further ado, let’s run down this week’s news – and as always, jump into the comments section and let us know what you’ve been playing this week…

This week’s biggest trailers

  1. PlayStation 4 Pro revealed
  2. It’s the biggest trailer of the week in more ways than one; the super-charged PS4 Pro was revealed to the world at our New York media briefing, promising beefed-up power and processing, enhanced graphics and video streaming up to 4K – not to mention a very cool design. Take a look at the hardware here, before checking out the games that will benefit from the Pro effect following the console’s launch on 10th November.

  3. PS4 Pro – The games
  4. OK, so a YouTube video might not quite show off the spectacular PS4 Pro graphics quite as well as a 4K, HDR enabled 60″ TV can, but it’s a good place to start and get a taste of what’s coming. Horizon Zero Dawn looks STUNNING, Spidey swung into New York to show off his particularly vibrant red suit and we got a first-look at Mass Effect Andromeda gameplay, amongst others. Check them out here:

  5. The Tomorrow Children – launch trailer
  6. Comrades! It’s time to unite and work together for the good of the human race in one of the most intriguing and unique games to arrive on PS4. The Tomorrow Children launched this week, so if you’re looking for something a little different this weekend, this is definitely worth your time.

  7. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood – Bringing terror to life in VR
  8. Think you’re brave enough for Until Dawn: Rush of Blood when PS VR launches next month? This fascinating look behind the scenes with Supermassive Games might change your mind…

What we’re currently playing:

Corey: “It’s taken a lot to tear me away from re-reading Y: The Last Man right now, but that’s the power Don’t Starve: Giant Edition has on me. I really need to pick up Shipwrecked soon, but I’m pretty sure my family would like to see me sometime within the next five years …maybe.”

Matt:The land of Rivellon continues to be my number one destination for nightly escapism. I’m currently deep in the pitch black of the goblin mines dodging invulnerable knights – I miss Cyseal!”

Rhys: “It’s been a busy, busy, busy week. Almost too busy for games… almost. It’s these times I retreat back to familiar ground with Rainbow Six: Siege’s short, sharp shooter rounds. You’d think with all this practice I’d actually be getting better, but alas, I’m still the player most likely to accidentally grenade a teammate.”
